They've always been allergic to reality. What did Jesus say about this, I wondered?
Luke 21:10-18 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. And it shall turn to you for a testimony. Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
His words are certain. There's so much in that short passage papists are repudiating. Presumably they have some knowledge of their own history, blasting anyone who questioned their authority. Dare to speak the truth about their lies, let alone proclaim The Gospel in a language anyone could understand, and the outcome was more severe than anything the Taliban's dreamed up! And since they're "the rulers" now, it's before them Christians would be brought. What a wonderful opportunity to explain about Jesus!
• Christians will get to present their testimony
• No need to meditate beforehand, what to say or how to present The Good News
• God will provide the words
• God will speak wisdom through Christians
• God is Jesus
• Then they will kill you
• You will not be harmed in any way
That does rather depend though on having a Gospel to preach.
