The important thing, especially when communicating with one's peer group, is not so much the mode of communication as the content. For example I enjoy cooking and sewing. There are some very interesting recipes and patterns in old magazines. The language used (from the 1950's & 40's) is not how we talk today but the paper pattern is there and the ingredients are there and it's not at all difficult to understand.
1940's dresses reinterpreted for the 2020's (next year's styles) however, use different fabrics. Or if you find an identical fabric (perhaps from a rural material shop with leftover stock) the pattern would be different. My point being that the dress is the same.
