Probably the catholics, they invented most of the unbiblical garbage that people believe.
age of innocence
infant baptism
purgatory
buying your way into heaven
Basically anything to get the money out of your wallet and to keep you from causing them too much trouble. They used to have a rule (or maybe they still do) that only priests should be able to read the Bible because only priests are "capable of understanding it"
So they'd all be up there telling us that God demands little boys strip down and grab their ankles, in church, five times per day.

Yes, I knew that. I've heard that Dec. 25 date was chosen to confuse/convince Mithraists that Christ was a new and improved version of the sun god (just one of many examples of twisted mentality of church leaders); at that time, the solstice was on Dec. 25, not 21. I also know that our BC/AD calendar was created by a very confused monk in 4th century AD, who wasn't that good at neither history nor astronomy

According to Luke 3:23 Jesus was baptized when he was "about thirty years of age". Somehow people forget that "about" part, and demand that he was baptized on his 30th birthday or something like that.

I don't want to sound nitpicking, but if He was baptized around 30, and then lived to way over 40, then what is leading people to the false assumption that he lived only three years after His baptism?

I could not agree with you more! They don't prohibit people from reading the Bible like they used to, but it is because they can't, not because they don't want to!

Okay, this is just from a quick internet search, but it seems to be because only three passovers are mentioned in the Bible (John 2:13 , John 6:4 , and John 13:1 ). So, somehow they're under the assumption that because only 3 Passovers are mentioned, only 3 years went by. Not quite sure where that idea came from, but there it is.
I don't remember anything in the Bible saying he only ministered for 2-3 years specifically. If I'm wrong, I pray someone corrects me. I've been a bit addle brained lately.

They DIDN'T KNOW He was speaking of the temple of His Body...they thought it was the temple in Jerusalem He just cleansed.
As for Irenaeus, Polycarp, etc...they were CATHOLICS. That means I'd think you'd be calling them "hellbound papists"...but I know you and them are all part of the fortress of Churchianity.

Care to back that up with Scripture?
Oh that's right, I forgot. You just pull your religion out of your ass.
Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:
Hypocrites (Matthew 24:51), The Unforgiving (Mark 11:26), Homosexuals (Romans 1:26, 27), Fornicators (Romans 1:29), The Wicked (Romans 1:29), The Covetous (Romans 1:29), The Malicious (Romans 1:29), The Envious (Romans 1:29), Murderers (Romans 1:29), The Deceitful (Romans 1:29), Backbiters (Romans 1:30), Haters of God (Romans 1:30), The Despiteful (Romans 1:30), The Proud (Romans 1:30), Boasters (Romans 1:30), Inventors of evil (Romans 1:30), Disobedient to parents (Romans 1:30), Covenant breakers (Romans 1:31), The Unmerciful (Romans 1:31), The Implacable (Romans 1:31), The Unrighteous (1Corinthians 6:9), Idolaters (1Corinthians 6:9), Adulterers (1Corinthians 6:9), The Effeminate (1Corinthians 6:9), Thieves (1Corinthians 6:10), Drunkards (1Corinthians 6:10), Reviler (1Corinthians 6:10), Extortioners (1Corinthians 6:10), The Fearful (Revelation 21:8), The Unbelieving (Revelation 21:8), The Abominable (Revelation 21:8), Whoremongers (Revelation 21:8), Sorcerers (Revelation 21:8), All Liars (Revelation 21:8)

The fact that the second sentence started "But" implies there's a CONTRAST between what the Pharisees thought and what He actually meant.
Twice near the end of that Gospel, John writes that there are many other things Jesus did which are not written in the Gospels...kinda blows a hole in your "Scripture or it's not so" theory.
As for the last sentence, I see you've resorted to vulgarity...that is proof that you've already lost.

SO, if something's NOT there, you feel justified in filling the gaps, HOW?

As your proferred replacement amounts to: "not Scripture so it is so", not so much.

Jesus was also quite rude to those who would not listen to Him. Just sayin'.

As the Catlick congregations were dwindling over the centuries, I think the Vatican lowered Jesus' age, as the thinking was "Only the Good Die Young" (what with Marilyn and Jimmy Dean and Elvis being so popular with the kids etc...)
It really shows you where their thinking is!

Obviously this is pure rot. There's no way such a young snot - 30 years of age - could speak with the authority of a master and pastor. You might argue that Jesus is God - sure, but God is eternal and far more than 30 years old, so that's rather irrelevant, isn't it?
So how old was Jesus? He gives us an answer in the fourth gospel:
John 2:18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
John 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
John 2:20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
John 2:21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
John 2:22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
We're all aware that our body is a temple of God (1 Peter 2:5, 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, 1 Corinthians 6:19, 2 Corinthians 6:16, Ephesians 2:21-22) - but here we have Jesus comparing His own body to a specific temple - one that it had taken 46 years to build, and which He would resurrect in 3 days.
It is written (John 2:22) that when " he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said " about the 3-days resurrection, but everybody conveniently forgot about the 46 years - including the kiddie-diddlers in the Vatican.
There's a message here to all angst-ridden pizza-faced teenage know-it-alls who pester this HOLY board. And the message is that life starts at forty, and till you reach maturity, it would behoove you to listen to your betters and stop flaunting your ignorance.

Hello KewlCommie, and welcome to our forums! You sound a bit miffed. Are you having trouble finding the courage to abandon your Sin and embrace a life in Faith instead?
We'd love to get to know you more. Would you mind introducing yourself in our Intro sub-forum so we can keep this discussion on track? Being able to share favorite Bible Verses can be very therapeutic in these End Times. There's not much time left before Jesus returns, and people are understandably on edge, what with all the gays frolicking around everywhere you go, demanding to get gay-married and raise gay-children. It helps to be reminded of why we have thrown our lot in with Christ Jesus and rejected the wisdom of the world (1 Corinthians 3:19).
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

Greetings Commie. There are communists in my home which is Jamaica. They march around a lot and they have a lot of meetings. There are also communists here at the University of Wisconsin where I am an undergraduate. They are few and they have meetings two or three times a week to discuss the coming revolution. I do not believe that the verse you have quoted is from the Holy Bible. We have only just met but let me offer you advice in the spirit of friendship. The people who have graciously set up this web site to allow Christians to fellowship among themselves and spread the word of the Baptist Christians are very friendly and open minded but they will grow angry if you act up. You risk rebuke if you trifle with God's word.

Yet, you've just broken the a commandment of God's law. In Exodus 20:4, it says, "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth"(KJV). You do not create your own version of the Lord, but rather the Lord tells us who He is in the bible. In Luke 3:23 Luke says that Jesus started his ministry when he was thirty years of age. His ministry lasted 3 years. What you say implies that you won't respect someone young. There are so many young people who are extremely wise and respected. What you are saying is very prideful and you should rethink what you've said. Some of the most influential Christians of this time are people like Trip Lee, a rapper who's only 26! He might not be in his fifties, but he's influenced many different generations to live for the Lord. Joshua DuBois, Obama's faith adviser, is only 31. He is respected by many because of what he does, especially former president Barack Obama.
If it makes you feel any better, I am under the age of 18. So maybe what I'm saying is invalid because of my age, but I genuinely want to make a Christian impact in this world. God bless.

If you intend to accuse Mrs. Rogers of gravening images, I do hope you're prepared to show proof of such an object. Otherwise, your libelous words can and may be used against you by our crack team of Jew lawyers.

I didn't intend to, my apologies. I just thought it wasn't right to say that about the Lord if the age of Jesus is debatable. I guess I got off track of what I was trying to say. Would you be able to forgive me?
