Babies of that age are incapable of using free will to commit to Jesus. If they die, they are going to Hell. There is no point in expending any effort on them until they are productive Christians.

(They confessed their sins - so they couldn't have been infants)
Matthew 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
(Jesus went up - so he wasn't an infant)
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
(first they repent - then they were baptized. Baptism is for remission of sins, not as prevention)
Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
(first they believed - then they were baptized)
Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
Acts 8:13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
(Verse 12: Men and women - but no children)
