Urgently Needed: Christian alternative to the Men's Movement

I've been attending the meetings of a Men's Rights group, and I really like a lot of what they have to say. They're raising consciousness about how women get their heads full of feminist ideas and then trash their marriages and screw over their husbands in divorce and family court, for example.

I must confess, however, that I do have some problems with the movement.

One issue I have is that a lot of the guys at these meetings bemoan the fact that they dare not go home with a woman after having a few drinks with her, because they never know when a loose woman is going to wake up the next morning, have regrets, and cry rape.

There certainly is an epidemic of that sort of thing, but I can not condone any man ever drinking in a bar with a woman, much less going home with her and engaging in pre-marital sex.

I've spoken up about this at those meetings, and my new friends have been polite enough, but I can tell that, inwardly, they are groaning and rolling their eyes and waiting for me to stop talking.

One of my new buddies took me aside after the last meeting and explained to me that the Men's Movement is not a religious movement. I think this is tragic. No movement can succeed without God, and Psalm 14:1 makes it abundantly clear that those who don't believe in God are idiots who can do no good.

I am considering spearheading a splinter group of the Men's Rights movement, a group that would recognize the primacy of the Lord. I just don't know how many of my new buddies would follow me, and I fear I would miss the ones who didn't.

2 Corinthians 6:14 and Matthew 12:30 make it quite clear that we shouldn't be friends with non-Christians, but these guys are so nice. Do you all have any advice for how I can convince them to follow me the Lord?

I asked a few of my friends about this and they said to get over it. "Men shouldn't miss other men." I disagree with this assessment, however, so I'm going to be a little more sympathetic to your cause than those goons were.

It's great that you want to form a splinter group (but be careful - splinters hurt really bad). It's even better that you want your group to honor

. He, after all, kind of started the first men's group when he gathered His apostles. I don't think you should give up on your buddies, but be a little more subtle about how you introduce them to the LORD. Leave a few tracts about salvation on the refreshment table. Invite them to attend church with you or have them come to a men's Bible study meeting. Have some of them over for a football game and during halftime, let the conversation drift to Jesus and ask that the Holy Spirit drop kick these men over the goal post of salvation.

You may endure some good-natured ribbing over this, but the LORD will honor your dedication.

These men, much like undomesticated animals, need to be broken. The best thing you can do in this case is to keep talking and talking and talking. Filibuster these lost souls straight to Jesus.

Early in our marriage my wife made the mistake of beginning a sentence with, "I thought..."

It was a pivotal moment, but I took a firm stand and did the right thing.

Now she understands that I lovingly do ALL the thinking for the both of us. As my father did for me, I have taught my sons the roles that God has designed for the sexes. So many fathers today seem to be derelict in this duty, as evidenced by the number of women frolicking about like harlots outside of a man's home, whether it be that of their father or husband. God is not pleased with this lapse. There have been and will continue to be consequences for this disobedience as we have all witnessed.
