Today we get:
- Constant reminders that the LORD is God.
- Laws; laws; laws; laws; laws; laws
- Who to kill for KNOWledge
- Rules for priests for marriage and other stuff
Leviticus 19
God said.
2 Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.
I the LORD your God. We'll see that a couple times.
3 Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God. That's 2.
4 Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God. 3.
Next there are some rules about peace offerings, in that they need to be eaten in one day, or two, but not three. If it's eaten on the third, then it doesn't count and you get kicked out.
Next is the law for helping the poor. When farmers would harvest the field, they had to leave the corners for the poor. Additionally, anything that fell to the ground was also for the poor.
10 And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God. That's 4.
11 Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another.
12 And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD. 5.
Don't defraud your neighbour, rob him, don't curse the deaf, trip the blind, but fear God because...
Leviticus 19:14 ...I am the LORD. 6.
Now we come to a point that many people don't think is in the Bible (KJV1611). A verse that heathens all seem to know is
Matthew 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. Of course they have no concept of context when they say that. Lets now continue with today's reading and compare that to Matthew 7:1.
15 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.
We are commanded to judge righteously. We are not to think less of a person because they are poor, we are not to think more of a person because they are great, but we are to judge everyone according to their merit. As I like to say, we aren't racists.
We hate people for WHO they are, not WHAT they are.
A racist hates a person based on skin colour, race, religion, creed... before they get to know the person. Friends, we here at Landover get to know you and then we Judge righteously; just as we are commanded to! PRAISE JESUS!!!
17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.
Friend, if you saw your neighbour was about to cut off his arm with a chainsaw, you'd warn him wouldn't you? We'll your neighbour is probably going to hell, shouldn't you warn him of that?
Oh, in verses 16, and 18, God reminds us that he is the LORD. 7 and 8.
19 Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee.
God says that cattle must only breed with like kinds. Fields are to only be one plant, and clothes are to only be one thread.
Somehow, false christians think it's ok for races to intermingle. God says it's not ok for cows, it's not ok for the farm, it's not ok for your clothes, but feel free to marry a negro. I DON'T THINK SO!!!
In verse 25, He reminds us that He is LORD. 9
28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
Apparently the Jews had a problem with being emo.
In 30, 31, and 32, we get numbers 10,11, and 12 of God reminding us He's the LORD.
Also in 34... 13
35 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard, in weight, or in measure.
When you judge, measure or weigh, do it right, don't be a jew!
37 Therefore shall ye observe all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: I am the LORD. Finally, the 14th time He reminds the people He is the LORD. Remember, they are very forgetful. Moses was gone a handful of days and they turned to worshiping the golden calf. You can see why He had to tell them 14 times that He is the LORD!
Leviticus 20
If someone gives their child for Molech, they get killed/cut out of Israel. (Lev. 20:2-6)
Adultery rules:
Death for: sleeping with another man's wife; father's wife; daughter in law; man with man; man and beast; woman and beast; (additionally a man and mother/daughter get burned).
Cut off from the people for: sister; woman on her... um... period.
Be childless for: aunt; sister in law.
You should separate clean and unclean animals. Don't let them mingle.
27 A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.
"Their blood shall be upon them" means it's their own fault. Do not feel guilty for ending the misery of anyone who's blood is upon them. They earned it. Think of it as a form of "suicide by cop".
Leviticus 21
Priest rules:
Don't defile yourself with the dead.
Don't make yourself bald, shave the beard, or cut the flesh. Don't profane God (why would a priest profane God? would he really be a priest?)
Marry a virgin.
Burn your daughter if she's a whore.
17 Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.
The following people are NOT allowed to offer bread to God.
Someone with a blemish; blind; lame; flat nose (cleft palate); broke foot; broke hand; crookback (broke back?); dwarf!; eye blemish; scurvy; scabbed; or broken stones (testicle problems).
These people are NOT allowed to be the priests. If you see anyone who fits these descriptions and is a preacher, you know they are rejecting part of the bible (KJV1611).
So what have we learned today?
1. God needs to continually tell the children of Israel that He (indeed) is the LORD their God. Every now and then He needs to remind them He brought them out of Egypt.
2. If it's good enough for your cattle, fields and clothes, it's good enough for your marriage.
3. Kill most people who commit adultry.
4. Don't trust a preacher who has a birth defect.
