Re: The Beavers on Noah's Ark -

The attention to detail is very convincing. Don't listen to mockers who say it's all guesswork. Scholars can recreate the facts based on evidence from the time of Noah; including that Noah was a sprightly 600 years old when all this happened.
Quote:
What Types of Food Were Possible?
Although Scripture doesn’t specifically say what food Noah and his family ate, it is reasonable to believe that Noah was able to grow some of the food he needed while on the Ark. If they had a means of allowing sunlight to reach the top floor during the initial 40 days and nights of flooding (for example, an opening covered by thin animal skins), then they could have had potted plants that thrive in low-light settings. Most likely, Noah could have also grown some of the herbs and grains prior to the Flood and dried them for storage.
Just as many people today can their vegetables and fruit, Noah and his family could have reasonably had a way of preserving some food in containers as they prepared for surviving on the Ark. As you walk through the exhibit, you will see the variety of options that Noah and his family might have enjoyed.
How Could They Have Cooked?
The family’s living quarters depict how they could have grown some of the food as they lived on the Ark. You can walk through their multipurpose kitchen where they could have stored and dried some foods, as well as prepped their meals. Don’t miss the latest addition to the exhibit, the oven, which shows how Noah and his family could have cooked certain foods.

It's certainly worth another visit, even if you have been before, to see the oven. Kids especially will marvel at the oven.

The reference says Noah would have "grown grains" for the family to eat while on the Ark. This implies they were vegetarians. Honestly, I have to doubt Ken a little here. I think Noah would have added an extra cow or two and eaten them. Lions, for example are not vegetarians so some slaughtering must have been done every day. I might send Ken a message and ask him about this vegetarian question. Bible believing people are meat eaters, not vegetarians.

It's been pointed out that there were a lot of drowned animals, (and people) literally floating around the water surface. I'm sure the lions and tigers and bears had a broad menu from which to choose.

Good thinking, Sister Handy. Until they decomposed there would have been an abundance of dead humans and animals to be used for food.
I'm still annoyed at how Ken Ham presents the scene of Noah and family growing grain to eat during the flood. It's almost as if Ken's teaching materials say, "Noah and his family lived a vegetarian life eating whole grains with no chemicals added." Vegetarians are liberal atheists who don't read the Bible.

It's a great question, Sir, Tell Ham the next upgrade to the Ark attraction better be a live slaughterhouse with blood and animals screaming. I would upgrade to the season pass for this alone - tell Ham that on the call.

The thing that strikes me is that beavers can swim. So why would they even have needed to be on the Ark? Noah could just have towed a couple of rafts behind, for when the two beavers needed a bit of a rest. Okay, he might have needed to carry some spare rafts, just in case the beavers gnawed through the ones they were resting on, but I think you get my general point?

I couldn't see an oven. When on farms, it's great to go where grains are crushed or ground into flour and eat some. Crushed wheat in particular is delicious and they do something with oats that's good, too. Since an oven would require fuel, about 40 tons per person to last the required time, and if they were vegans (although Adam & Eve wore animal skins didn't they – from the very day sin and therefore death entered the world suggesting the animals were killed by God for that purpose or started dropping dead immediately?) well, cooking wouldn't really be necessary.
Upon reflection, 320 tons of wood may not take up more space than 1 Sauropodomorphiodon, two of which would be needed or eggs which would hatch and grow rather quickly, possibly eating all the firewood. The alternative of dried manure, such as India's cow dung fires (a sample cow-dung oven pictured right: I guess the food goes in L-to-R somewhere near the bucket, underneath the drying dung on top of the oven's roof) is very polluting and might burn well enough when dry but needs to be dried first, not straightforward under flood conditions, with half dried dung producing excessive smoke and fumes.
I noticed Ham included dinosaurs.

Since Noah knew it would only rain for 40 days and 40 nights, he could have tactically starting burning parts of the Ark that were less essential to holding the Sauropodomorphiodons. This would explain why it has been so difficult to find the original Ark, although of the numerous replicas Ham's is by far the largest - even competitive with national treasures such as Iowa's very own World's Largest Strawberry in Strawberry Point - especially now with the MUST SEE oven.

Sister Miza'a reference burning animal dung got me to wondering about brother Ken Ham's replica. We have to remember Noah's sons had wives. Those wives had to be convinced to go along with this program. If any husband since the beginning of time said to his wife, "Honey, we're going to move into an ark with a lot of animals. I hope you are ok with that," she would have asked, "How bad will the smell be? Take care of that."
The apartment in the Ark publicity brochure looks very nice. But behind the visible walls must have been a powerful ventilation system. Part of the Ark was below water where there were no windows. Somehow, air was forced down there and the smell was moved up and out of the Ark. Noah was a genius engineer and architect.
