Let me be clear, I have no use for Senators in the Democratic Party. But we need to be fair to our fraternity of elected officials.

Senator Menendez deals in international affairs. He decides what countries get in on U.S. government business. FBI agents found gold bars worth $100,000 in his house. They also found $480,000 of cash stuffed in pockets and envelops. The assumption being made is this material was paid the Senator for favors.

We should remember there may be very other reasons for $480,000 in cash plus the bars of gold. Maybe he was planning a deposit in his bank the next day. Let's not get too hasty here.

As the party of law and order we should be all over this but I just can't get excited about a few thousand dollars. Perhaps he forgot to empty his loose change. Perhaps his cleaners left it there. We just don't know. Really I wish investigators would have a limit put on them for dollar amounts less than a certain amount, say $2B.

Senator Menendez must resign from the U.S. Senate immediately and retire from public life. It is a disgrace to have a sitting U.S. Senator under criminal indictment, particularly when the case is open and shut like this one--for Heaven's sake, the FBI raid found the evidence right in the senator's house, plus he's hispanic, and they're all corrupt! What are we, a banana republic? Even in New Jersey the standards need to be higher.

When President Trump is re-elected, he's going to need to clean house again in Washington. Criminal defendant Sen. Menendez is target number one, right after Joe Biden and the others who are currently prosecuting President Trump.

I know that the replacement will be a Democrat, but I hope Sen. Menendez's successor will be a white moderate like New Jersey's other senator, Corey Booker.

Your make such a good point, Brother Dnow. We can't have politicians remain in office when they have indictments against them.

Menendez is now saying none of the cash or gold bars were from bribes. The guy is a Democrat in a state, New Jersey, with Democratic politicians of questionable character. If Menendez does not come up with a really good explanation of why all the money was laying around we have to assume it was for payment of a bribe. We know Egypt used him to arrange for larger payments from the U.S. government.

Like you, I'm excited about President Trump's latest campaign speech. He promised to build a wall to keep out Messicans and clean up Washington in the next four-year term.

Democrats do not play fair, they hit below the belt. They are attacking Republicans who want Menendez to resign by demanding Santos resign. Unfair.

$100,000 in gold bars? At about $2000/oz, that's a mere 50oz and gold's heavy stuff. Gold's not like Rice Krispies where 50oz would fill a small truck - 50oz of gold takes up a cube with sides of about 4¼" or, to put it another way, not much bigger than a few stacked-up cell phones - easy enough to have lying about the house unnoticed. I know I've got few old cellphones round the house, although I'm not sure I could find them all if asked.

I read you can buy gold plates that Trump has personally shat on(*). It commands a premium on the metals market.
