To me it seems you are twisting words. I took the time to look up the definition of covet and it seems to differ a tad from what you are peddling here.

verb (used with object)

1. to desire wrongfully, inordinately, or without due regard for the rights of others: to covet another's property.

2. to wish for, especially eagerly:He won the prize they all coveted.

verb (used without object)

3. to have an inordinate or wrongful desire.


It is clear the word covet has nothing to do with destruction, it has to do with desire. I presume that is something you have (desire) which you can´t satisfy by your own means. Please don´t take your frustration out on us. Even though for some this might be helpful, see Matthew 5:10.

In your example, there are two clearly separated sentences.

In the example given by Mr. Much, the wife is tucked in the middle of all other possessions of her husband - between his house and his servant.

A wife is a product that is being paid for, plain and simple. Look up the story of Jacob, he paid with 14 years of labor to buy two sister wives. It's a custom often called a "bride price."

She was married.
Not for the promise of money, or something else, but because it was God's will.

Please find me a verse that specifically says that Joseph broke the tradition of bride price, which was customary for all new wives.

Exodus 20:17


“Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.”



This means anything that belongs to your neighbor. I.e. a wife is the property of her husband.

God doesn't just throw these ideas out with no explanation. There is a reason given: the sin of being deceived.
