Newbie to these forums -
08-22-2022, 08:53 PM
Dear Landover Baptist Church members,
I want to give a little intro to myself: I am Robert Clark and I am 45 years old and I am from Charlotte North Carolina. I have just started attending the Morning Star Baptist Church here in Charlotte.
I came to know Jesus through a sermon my pastor preached about hell and becoming a new Christian. My favorite verse is Luke 14:26 Which says and I quote:
If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
I am here to learn more about Jesus and before I forget, I seen some that are gun fanciers, my favorite gun is none other than an AR-15. Unfortunately, there are people out there who are trying to do away with this fine weapon. I don't claim to know everything there is to know about guns, but, I do know they are very good for putting sinners out of their misery.
Blessings,
Robert

Robert--Welcome to Landover Baptist. I know you will learn and enjoy spending time here.
We here at LBC are always interested to know if men have wives and if they have fathered, or plan to father, sons. Tell us about that part of your life.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

Thank you, sir, for your gracious welcome.
I am married to a fine wife named Michelle. We have 2 boys named Bobby Ray (10) and Garrett Lee (11). I only say she's fine because she knows and understands her place in the household. I made sure of that when we first got married as per Eph 5:23
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the Saviour of the body.
Blessings,
Robert

Welcome Mr. Clark. We look forward to fellowshipping with you. For someone born during the wooly hippy era of the 1970's, you seem clean-shaven and lucid. I'm guessing that your mother did not do drugs when she was serving as your gestation vessel.

Cranky old man,
My best to you as well sir. My gun of choice is the ArmaLite AR-15.
Hand Maiden,
No, she did not. My mother and father were not drug users. As a matter of fact, father made sure we were well protected from the hippies and all the trash that existed during that time.
Blessings,
Robert

It seems to me that the AR-15 is such an important part of contemporary Christian culture that it should be included in some sort of Christian gift-giving guide.
As a wedding gift to a newly-married couple it seems a bit late. Before taking on their vows, the young husband, at least, should be trained in the methods to properly protect his family.
Since we here at , know better than to abide with infant baptism*, I'm thinking that the AR-15 is the perfect token to present to a newly declared soul for Christ.
Accept The Lord; enter into a public covenant with The Lord by submitting to full body immersion; get a top-of-the-line AR-15.
It's all just so beautiful. Praise Jesus.
* After all, we're called "Baptists" because we take baptism seriously. We know that it's not just an empty ritual and an excuse to put a baby in a fancy dress.
His left hand should be under my head, and his right hand should embrace me.

I couldn't agree more. I am personally training both my sons to use AR-15's before they even start dating. That way, they will be ready by the time they get married. One can never start too soon.
Blessings,
Robert

Welcome Mr. Clark.

My favorite verse is Luke 14:26:

A fine choice - what do you read into it that makes it so appealing to you?
Quote:
I do know they are very good for putting sinners out of their misery.

Amen - because we love them enough to want to save their immortal souls.

A pleasure to meet you Dr. Toole,
It tells me that whoever has personal interests that take precedence over Christ and devotion to his service will find it impossible to meet the requirements Christ makes of him. At all times and circumstances, the Kingdom MUST come first. No Excuses!

Sir, I hate to be disrespectful but that's not what the Bible says. We do not allow our interpretations to color the Word of God here (unlike some other Churches). The Bible tells us specifically to hate our father, mother, wife and children, etc.; it's fairly explicit. Let's also check out Matthew 10:35.
For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
100% consistency. And it goes on, Matthew 6:25.
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
This is what liberal lamestream Christianity won't tell you. Jesus wants you hopping mad at the FBI and the Democrat usurpers when Donald Trump returns to power and we enter the end times.
If I have seen further, it is by standing on the heads of others.

Hi, welcome to the forum. I've noticed elsewhere that Scripture is described as a unique authority for Baptists, unlike various heretics who regard the ravings of seers and other freaks to carry some weight. As a result it's easy to identify them because as soon as what they say CONTRADICTS what God has already explained, clearly He is not inspiring them. It's not for me to say who IS inspiring them.
Satan contradicts everything good in God at every opportunity so his influence is as inconspicuous as an iceberg landing in your back garden. A person helping me to understand something and NOT contradicting God in the process may not be a heretic and an example would be the topic of hate. God's kingdom could be put first in every situation and other persons last at all times (one category is absent from His list incidentally) without actually hating them. One false doctrine promoted by heretics is that it's a special "magic" sort of hate not referring at all to the verb to hate. In that case, Jesus would have used a different word, meaning simply to despise one's family or to regard them as insane: but He didn't.
Thank you for a thoughtful introduction.

Point well taken. I never really thought of it this way.

Welcome, Mr. Clark! I'm so glad Jesus brought you here to join us! Congratulations on having and maintaining a wife and two boys. Tell us how you like to share the Good News with those liberal hippies in North Carolina. Are you boys old enough to be involved in rebuking sinners?
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

I like to do what's called "captive audience." By that, I mean they have no choice but to listen to what I have to tell them. That's where my AR-15 comes in.

I am training them early. Once my youngest reaches 15 they will both be ready to go out and rebuke the sinners. I want to be sure they understand what they need to do and how to do it right.

Friendly Christian greetings, Mr Clark, and a warm welcome to our Godly forums. You seem to have good intentions, but much to learn. For example, I find this worrying:

If you will take advice from a True Christian™ woman, mother of many boys and a girl, all my children have been trained up in rebuking skills ever since they could talk. The younger ones are expected to be out on the streets, preaching God's Holy Word, by the age of four. Obviously at that age they are accompanied by at least one older brother (usually two or more, although we generally find that one will suffice). But they are expected to be self-sufficient by the age of seven or eight.
They are, of course, blessed with their father's physique and somewhat alarming cold blue eyes. In the event that your boys are on the weedy side, I would strongly recommend martial arts training.
I hope this is helpful, dear?
