False Christians Help Terrorists Spit on Noah -
11-11-2007, 01:39 PM
Well now I've heard it all. THIS story of cultists, false Christians and mudslime terrorists holding a coven meeting with the express purpose of maligning the Biblical story of Noah's Ark is infuriating.
Quote:
Interfaith event features Noah's Ark story
In one Islamic version of the Noah's Ark story, the believers were saved from starvation by Noah, who mixed scraps of food to create a delicious meal. The next day, the flood receded.
In another version, to celebrate the end of the flood and offer thanks to God, the survivors prepared a delicacy with the food left on the ark.
In either case, that meal, called "Noah's pudding,'' owes its taste to contrasting flavors borne from a variety of ingredients.
"It shows how cultural diversity can be delicious,'' said Hakan Yildiz, executive director of the Pittsburgh Dialogue Foundation, which will be presenting Prayer from the Ark: An Interfaith Celebration from 7 to 9 tonight.
It will be held at the Franciscan Spirit and Life Center on the 33-acre campus of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence of God, 3605 McRoberts Road, Whitehall.
Besides a discussion of the Middle Eastern tradition of celebrating the landing of Noah's Ark, and a question-and-answer session on the faith and its customs, Noah's pudding will be served.
The event is sponsored by the center, which is conducting its third interfaith celebration in three years.
"The goal of these events is to raise the awareness of people from the different faith traditions about the common elements in the traditions, especially in our world today in which we need to foster peace and understanding,'' said program director Sister Patricia Mahoney.
A common element in the Holy Books of Christianity, Judaism and Islam is the Noah's Ark story.
The program will focus on the Islamic tradition, and will be presented by Tugba Kucukkal, a Muslim who emigrated from Turkey to the U.S. in 2001.
Mrs. Kucukkal, of Forest Hills, is also a member of PDF, a nonprofit organization headquartered in Dormont that promotes intercultural and interfaith dialogue and encourages cultural exchange through social, art and educational events.
It was established in 2005 as a subsidiary of the West Penn Cultural Center, which was founded in 2000 by Pittsburgh's Turkish community.
PDF has about 80 member families, most of whom are of Turkish descent.
"It's nice to learn about other cultures while sharing information about your own,'' said Mrs. Kucukkal, who has attended numerous interfaith events.
PDF members will serve Noah's pudding made with wheat, white beans, chick peas, raisins, almonds, apricot, figs, sugar, rice and milk.
It will be topped with walnuts and cinnamon.
The dessert can also be made with other grain, fruits and nuts. Pomegranate, sesame seeds and orange peels are also recommended.
The contrasting flavors are not only tasty, said Mr. Yildiz, but represent the cultural diversity of the United States, to which he emigrated from Turkey in 2001.
Mr. Yildiz, of Squirrel Hill, said both versions of the Noah's Ark story offer the relevant lesson of people turning to God and working together to survive a disaster.
"Today we have global terrorism, war, crime and so on. The solution is to connect as a community around our common values and to look to God,'' he said.
