Im not mis quoting & u know it. a while ago i turned on the t v in bed on a Sunday morning & some dude called Ostean was on making it sound like God loves everybody. church looked packed as far as i could see /& then Jake said Osteen is very popular. not my cup of tea thogh, not with that greasy hair. So if this Osteen guy is preaching from the same bible then he cant be all bad if he wants people to prsoper & do well & get alonng.

He's preaching only very selective parts, and as you've seen here, knowing what comes two lines later (that he'll never mention), changes the meaning rather drastically. He gets away with it because his audience only reads the parts of the Bible he tells them to (if that much).


His shtick is called the "prosperity gospel", and it's quite common (and lucrative) these days. Google it and you'll learn about Creflo Dollar and others plying the same racket. Americans love being sold ways to get rich quick.


Among the parts of Jesus' teachings they ignore is when He tells a couple of prospects that to truly follow Him they should start by giving everything they own to the poor.

Real eye opener & everybody knows pastors like Ken Copland & Benni Hunn r fake too. but i say that bout all the preachers , all they want is $$$$$. same here when i saw somthing about a plane fund for the LanDover pastor . $$$$$ suck em dry thats what they wan.t .

As Mr. Much has so very kindly noted, dear Mr. Brickall, those are "prosperity" preachers: people who teach that the only way to please is to give money so that He can give it back to the donor. Rest assured, Dear, that this is not the case here at . Oh, our beloved does teach the importance of tithing, but that's because it is so clearly outlined — and ordered — within the blessed pages of the :

Leviticus 27:30 "And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the 's: it is holy unto the ."

Proverbs 3:9 "Honor the with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:"

Now, then; as for the jet aeroplane fund for our , that is a very essential part of the Pastor's ministry. A proper business case was prepared, audited, and presented to the members of , and it was decided — overwhelmingly — that this aeroplane fund must be implemented. How on Earth else is the good Pastor supposed to deliver his sermons when he has to travel from Freehold? If you aren't already prosperous, well, you'll need to find some budget church to worship at in Ames or Dubuque or--heaven forbid!--Council Bluffs.
