You will notice from verse 1 that there were several persons present. And that they were speaking. The point is reiterated in verse 11. Here's the whole lot (in 1769 spelling):

IF the unlearned or unbelievers were to hear worldly speech, why would he say that they are mad...Wouldn't they say they're speaking in Spanish,Hebrew,Chinese ect??? Hmmmm.... So, I guess one will just start talking in Spanish,German,French ect out of no where (never taken a course in the language) and that person is suppose to also pray that they will interpret/understand that language. Wow!!!! Because, I'd sure hope that if there were any gifts of the spirit from God available that all gifts would be present in my church.

Because, if you know and live this vs, you will know your bible and no man can tell you different.

The big problem in "religion" is most people just hold their bibles close...tucked in next to their heart but never really open it to read for themselves. Most people fall on the understanding of others and their "religion" to dictate what their own personal beliefs are. Soo sad.

I was in the UPC for 14 years and the ALJC for 1 year and I am very familiar with their doctrines . In my opinion they have many nice and well meaning members . However , through time , I began to see that they have a different gospel and obvious misinterpretations of Scripture . I regret the years that I spent there because I missed out on so much true Christian fellowship because I was not allowed to worship with anyone who did not believe what I did and if any of the members visited other churches who did not believe the same , it was only to be for the purpose of trying to convert someone .

It is amazing how Scripture is so clear that God is identified in Scripture as God the Father , Jesus Christ , and the Holy Spirit , and while there is one God , the 3 are eternal and distinct . How anyone can claim to be a Christian and believe that Jesus is the Father and the Holy Spirit is hard to fathon . What is really bad is that the puoits in the UPC have been used to condemn Christians who believe in the Trinity .

I could go on for a long time about what I have learned from Scripture that I did not learn in the UPC and ALJC . The reason is because in those 2 church organization they have a different interpretation of many verses of Scripture and they do not want their members to study anything that contradicts what they believe .
