Default Day 176. Psalm 106-110 - 01-14-2009, 10:08 PM

Psalm 106-110

Psalm 106

1 Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Except for my enemies, more on that later.

3 Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

At ALL times. Unlike those that aren't righteous all the time.

6 We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.

Friends, what is iniquity?

Iniquity is used in 262 verses in the Bible (KJV1611). The definition of iniquity is:

1. gross injustice or wickedness.
2. a violation of right or duty; wicked act; sin.

But, Iniquity is more that just sin. Brother Percy has said that Iniquity is taking pride in that sin. Iniquity is not repenting of sin, and being proud of it. Like modern homosexuals, who flaunt their gay pride, they are iniquitous.

The rest of Psalm 106 covers the sins of the Hebrews while they were in the desert/wilderness.

17 The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan and covered the company of Abiram.

19 They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.

28 They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.

36 And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.

48 Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD.

God, we've done all these bad things, PRAISE YOU!

Psalm 107

1 O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

FOR EVER!

The first part of this psalm covers the founding of Israel, and then the rebellion, and the Hebrews being taken away.

31 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

Psalm 108

1 O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.

Praise JESUS!!!

12 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.

God is awesome! People suck!

Psalm 109

1 Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise;

God, who's mercy endureth forever!

2 For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.

God, who's mercy endureth forever.

7 When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.

God, please smite my enemies.

8 Let his days be few; and let another take his office.

Please?

9 Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.

That's not such a huge curse, as we are commanded in Exodus 22:22 to be nice to widows and fatherless children.

10 Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.

Hmmmm, apparently if we pray for God to REALLY destroy our enemies, we don't have to be nice to the widows.

12 Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children.

I want him hurt so bad that it takes generations to overcome the pain. "I'm gonna hit you so hard your kids will hurt!"

13 Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.

This is kind of a major curse, since remember, the carrying on of the family name is such a huge thing. Having their name removed is a major curse.

14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.

Let their name be forgotten, but let their sin be remembered. That's kind of an odd curse. In future generations, when they are sitting around the campfire the story would go like this:

"Remember that guy, who did that really bad thing; I remember the thing, but what was his name? Anyone remember? He was in that one movie once... oh well, don't lose any sleep over it"

15 Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.

Now the psalmist wants us to completely forget about them. If you want to have someone forgotten, writing about them in the best selling book of all time, probably isn't the best way to go about that. Oh well, most people may own a bible, but no one actually reads it.

20 Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the LORD, and of them that speak evil against my soul.

So this curse goes out to people who are enemies of the LORD, and also my enemies, PRAISE JESUS!!!

26 Help me, O LORD my God: O save me according to thy mercy:

Save me, remember your mercy, screw my enemies.

31 For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.

The enemies will probably be praying this same thing eventually. Or something close, but they'll be praying it to a false idol, and it'll fall on deaf ears.

Psalm 110

1 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

Praise Jesus, I could use a new footstool.

6 He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries.

He will destroy Hamas.

So what have we learned today?

1. God's mercy endureth forever. Just he has none for my enemies.

2. Praying for your enemies to die isn't enough, you should also pray that their widows die in the streets and that their kids wind up being beggars who are ashamed to say their last names.

3. The Hebrews have a tendency to completely forget God, at the drop of a hat.
