I'm encouraged when I see well managed churches like Landover Baptist require members to shape up or get out. When I see it, I know Jesus is among us.

A recent news story told of a long-time member of a Baptist church who ran into health problems and claimed to have run out of money. For a few years at the end of her life she did not tithe nor come to church. When she died her family assumed they could buy a plot for her in the church cemetery. The church turned down the family's request because Grandma had stopped tithing.

This family is trying to get something for nothing. They should have been gathering money among themselves to pay Grandma's tithe. A great church lays down the law--pay to play.

Oh, dear in Heaven above! This is such a sad story to read of, dear Brother Mayor Hold. After all that the poor, old woman had done for her church, one would expect that she would have continued her obligations, even though she had health concerns. Well, that's just the way it goes, I suppose. As the old saying goes, "if you snooze, you lose", especially when one chooses to become backslidden, and is no longer giving faithfully to the that which is .

Proverbs 3:89 "Honor the with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:"

Proverbs 16:3 "Commit thy works unto the , and thy thoughts shall be established."

Luke 16:13 "No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve and mammon."

Well, I wonder what will happen now. Surely, the woman can be cremated with her ashes put in a urn for the fireplace mantle. Certainly, the family is being ridiculous to hope that the Pastor's Godly decision to deny burial space will be reversed. And, I do hope that this will be a lesson to others who think that they can shirk from their Godly responsibilities — and a reminder of the implications and consequences that shall befall them!

Malachi 3:8 "Will a man rob ? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings."

Galatians 6:7 "Be not deceived; is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

Had this grandmother simply increased her tithe, she would have been tremendously blessed. It's sad that, because of this one bad life choice, she's burning in Hell.

And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. I know that some false Christians think that poverty is an excuse for not tithing. All I have to say to them is where, exactly, does the Bible say that? No matter how poor you are, God needs your money more than you do. This is what reverse mortgages were invented for.
