In a
letter to the editor in today's
Washington Compost, a false Christian fluffy bunny comes to the defense of the LSD cultists:
Quote:
Jesus said, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. All men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another” (John 13:34-35). He also said, “Anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing” (John 14:12), which included caring for the sick, troubled and powerless. To clarify, Jesus said, “If you love me, you will obey as I command.” Knowing who Jesus considers to be his followers should help us decide who’s who, shouldn’t it?

Evidently, in that person's mind, the parts of the Bible that matter can fit on a 3x5 card, and the rest is filler. Also, if that were the sole criterion for being a Christian, many people who deny the Divinity of Christ would be perfectly good Christians, as would many people who do not believe in God at all.
Christ's actual criteria for being His followers are a bit more complex. For one thing, you have to believe in His name:
John 3:18: He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Of course, you have to believe in the name of the real Jesus, not some
made-up version.
In addition, you have to follow the entire Word of God, not just the lovey-dovey parts:
Matt. 4:4: But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Finally, you must not follow another gospel, like ... gosh, I dunno ... the
Book of Mormon.
