The bible has changed throughout time, by many different people. How can you live by it? Just this post itself shows how controlling religion is, and how much it has changed over time. Religion is about power, that is how it always has been, In the old days when churches controlled state you were persecuted for being a 'Free thinker' because the truth with proof was put out, and questioned religion. Which made people think, and churches feared losing power, so now another part of the bible changed God hates Rational thinkers.... Excuse us people for thinking rational that there may be more to the world than a religion, that science has more of background and more proof set in stone than religion. "the monotheistic god is an illusion based upon the infantile emotional need for a powerful, supernatural pater familias; and that religion — once necessary to restrain man’s violent nature in the early stages of civilization — in modern times, can be set aside in favor of reason and science. It is also because people do not know what the afterlife brings. In fear of this, is what makes an additional factor to why religion was created ---" Sigmund Freud. Read something by him, open your crusted eyes.

Well the bible was written 2,000 and some years ago it is still relevant today ( actually it was written for people today) and is a way ahead of the scientists.
On the other hand the scientists change their 'science' all the time. Today's science is tomorrows science fiction.
The reality is that God is the only answer. The only possibility. And the science proves that. The scientists on the other hand can't prove anything , when it comes to the start of life and 'evolution'.
So for me , I want something that is real.

I know, right?
Exodus 29:10 “Bring the bull to the front of the tent of meeting, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on its head. 11 Slaughter it in the LORD’s presence at the entrance to the tent of meeting. (This was a special tent that God lived inside. The people would worship in front of it, and Moses would go inside to talk to God).
13 Then take all the fat on the internal organs, the long lobe of the liver, and both kidneys with the fat on them, and burn them on the altar. 14 But burn the bull’s flesh and its hide and its intestines outside the camp. It is a sin offering
17 Cut the ram into pieces and wash the internal organs and the legs, putting them with the head and the other pieces. 18 Then burn the entire ram on the altar. It is a burnt offering to the LORD, a pleasing aroma, a food offering presented to the LORD.
19 “Take the other ram, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on its head. 20 Slaughter it, take some of its blood and put it on the lobes of the right ears of Aaron and his sons, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the big toes of their right feet. Then splash blood against the sides of the altar.
21 And take some blood from the altar and some of the anointing oil and sprinkle it on Aaron and his garments and on his sons and their garments. Then he and his sons and their garments will be consecrated. 22 “Take from this ram the fat, the fat tail, the fat on the internal organs, the long lobe of the liver, both kidneys with the fat on them, and the right thigh. (This is the ram for the ordination.)
24 Put all these in the hands of Aaron and his sons and have them wave them before the LORD as a wave offering. 25 Then take them from their hands and burn them on the altar along with the burnt offering for a pleasing aroma to the LORD, a food offering presented to the LORD.
26 After you take the breast of the ram for Aaron’s ordination, wave it before the LORD as a wave offering, and it will be your share. 27 “Consecrate those parts of the ordination ram that belong to Aaron and his sons: the breast that was waved and the thigh that was presented. 28 This is always to be the perpetual share from the Israelites for Aaron and his sons. It is the contribution the Israelites are to make to the LORD from their fellowship offerings.
32 At the entrance to the tent of meeting, Aaron and his sons are to eat the meat of the ram and the bread that is in the basket. 33 They are to eat these offerings by which atonement was made for their ordination and consecration. But no one else may eat them, because they are sacred
35 “Do for Aaron and his sons everything I have commanded you, taking seven days to ordain them. 36 Sacrifice a bull each day as a sin offering to make atonement. Purify the altar by making atonement for it, and anoint it to consecrate it.
37 For seven days make atonement for the altar and consecrate it. Then the altar will be most holy, and whatever touches it will be holy. 38 “This is what you are to offer on the altar regularly each day: two lambs a year old. 39 Offer one in the morning and the other at twilight
40 With the first lamb offer a tenth of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with a quarter of a hin of oil from pressed olives, and a quarter of a hin of wine as a drink offering. 41 Sacrifice the other lamb at twilight with the same grain offering and its drink offering as in the morning—a pleasing aroma, a food offering presented to the LORD.

people are stupid. that's a given.
I dont see why god would hate rational thinking unless he has something to hide. If he doesn't, he should want us to find out the whole truth.
And yes, haters of science, I just used rational thinking.
peace.

He has told us the "whole truth"; it is right before you (well, perhaps not 'you') in the Bible!
You see, the truth can be something like a coat hanger with a clock on it. Unnecessary. All that is necessary is finding the road to Salvation™.
Why would God want us to clutter our minds with stupid "theories"?
Has He not done our thinking for us?

This passage is in fact one of the most significant in the Bible. Here we see how to sacrifice, should we be required at some future date to do this. As it is, the verses are the Old Covenant for has not Christ Jesus made the final Sacrifice, thus freeing us from the need to sacrifice?
So if those verses weren't there, we would not understand why Jesus, who is God, who is the Holy Spirit, may Save us!

This is totally against what the bible says. The bibles is about governments, the question is, who has the right to rule? The is the bibles theme. Right now it is Satan ruling, but that will change before, everything is totally ruined. It is man that chose this.
And the scientists have really given man the ability the ruin the earth. So the scientists are also part of the problem. Yes you are correct they are stupid theories. Byt the scientists are not stupid people. So why?

The Bible is not about "governments." There were no "governments" in the Bible worthy of the name. You are conflating the term 'government' to mean any system or rule at all. In the Bible OT, there are absolute monarchs and absolute tribal leaders, all appointed (or killed) by God. In the NT, there are the Romans and the Pharisees. The Jews had no say in what the heathen Romans did and some Pharisees, who were the local theocrats, refused to listen to Jesus' word.
Quote:
This is the bibles theme.
|
I would have thought that the future of mankind, Godly conduct and the road to Salvation were more the theme. Your emphasis (see above) is misplaced. Yes, you can boil it down to what you say, but you can also boil it down to a geography or history lesson or the ramblings of old Jewish folk tales: Ti:1:14: Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

You may have voted for Obama but I didn't.
Quote:
but that will change before, everything is totally ruined. It is man that chose this.

But all the good things - didn't men choose those as well? The kind, the generous, the honest, the compassionate, the True Christian™, are they "of Satan"? Are you some sort of "humanist" who believes man's destiny is in his own hands rather than the Hands of God? No son, God chooses everything, He guides everyone otherwise how could He know our futures?
Quote:

Ge:1:26: And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
You see God will look after us all for the Earth is ours - it is not Satan's. Satan cannot rule over us, he has no mandate and is devoid of power. Why! Satan has only ever killed 2 people Job 1:1-19 and that was with God looking on and there was nothing at all to say that the 2 dead people were evil. Whereas Almighty God has killed about 2 million - that's what I call power and just retribution.
So don't worry yourself with your stories about a Boogeyman being in charge - God will protect us from all ills.

8Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
Satan could not offer this to Jesus without him being in control of these governments.
Revelation 13:2 (King James Version)
2And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
This where the bible tells us that the 'dragon' (Satan), gives the power, to the beast. ( the beast represents mans governments on the earth ) This is where one of the keys to unlocking the understanding of Revelation, is found.
Satan is the ruler of the world, and all the government's, have been under his control.

Most people think the bible is about man's salvation, but really, it is about governments. God's Sovereignty. The bible answers the question of who has the right to rule, Satan or God.It also says how this is going to happen, and of course man's place in this. Since we have free will to choose just like Adam did.Adam chose Satan of all of us, but we as individuals also have the opportunity to choose.
Matthew 6:9-10 (King James Version)
9After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
So in this well known verse of Jesus praying to Jehovah, he asks us to pray for God's Kingdom, not only in heaven but on the earth.
In Genesis is the first prophecy in the bible and it is answered in Revelation.
So God's Sovereignty, ( government) is the theme of the bible.

That's correct, 'Ms Bog' listed a a number of scriptures, but I did not get what the point of them were. So what in particular, did she want a comment on? Because she said she was not asking a question, there is no answer that I could give. So I said OK, to let her know I read her post.
(I got whacked from the monitor for that)
If she asked a question I would have answered it!
