Lecturer Loses Job for Showing a Painting of the Prophet Muhammad. -
01-08-2023, 01:48 PM
In the news today, I see that the Mooslims are at it again with the Prophet Muhammad pictures. My immediate reaction to the headline was grow up Mooslims, it's not as if the Holy Ghost has been denied here, or anything serious, but then as I got further into the story I could kind of understand the logic.
Quote:
A Lecturer Showed a Painting of the Prophet Muhammad. She Lost Her Job.
After Dr. López Prater showed the image, a senior in the class complained to the administration. Officials told Dr. López Prater that her services next semester were no longer needed. University officials and administrators all declined interviews.
Hamline’s president, Fayneese S. Miller, co-signed an email that said respect for the Muslim students “should have superseded academic freedom.” “It was important that our Muslim students, as well as all other students, feel safe, supported and respected both in and out of our classrooms.”
[T]he student who complained to the administration, Aram Wedatalla, described being blindsided by the image: “I’m like, ‘This can’t be real’”.
|
Indeed, Aram.
We need to appreciate that University is a place where officials and administrators cultivate their brand to sell product and rent units to foreign students. Anything that disrupts this noble tradition is an affront to our Western ideals.
Based on the evidence, Hamline looks like a wonderful alternative to Liberty for those of means who lack interest in educating their own children.

Should've known better than to slander the prophet of Islam at a liberal university. If she had mocked Jesus and Christians and then literally took a dump on a Bible right there in the lecture hall, she would've received a standing ovation and would be the darling of the liberal media. Islam, Israel, feminism, LGBTs, black nationalists, and atheists - the modern day Axis of Evil.

Mr. Lukes, thank you for sharing your views, which are also shared by David Everett, the vice president for Inclusive Excellence at Hamline. He called the incident “undeniably inconsiderate, disrespectful and Islamophobic.” Marcela Kostihova, Dean of the college of liberal arts, agreed comparing showing the image to using a racial epithet for Black people.
Students held a forum where they discussed genuine concerns:
- “Who do I call at 8 a.m.,” she asked, when “you see someone disrespecting and offending your religion?”
- [A]n invited Muslim speaker compared showing the images to teaching that Hitler was good.
- Jaylani Hussein, the executive director of the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said showing the picture had “absolutely no benefit.” "If somebody wants to teach controversial stuff about Islam, go teach it at the library.”
- Edward Ahmed Mitchell, the deputy executive director of the national chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, added “If you drink a beer in front of me because you’re deliberately trying to offend me, well then, maybe that has an intent factor."
Mark Berkson, a religion professor at Hamline, objected: “When you say ‘trust Muslims on Islamophobia,’ what does one do when the Islamic community itself is divided on an issue?". Ms. Baker, the department head, and Dr. Everett, the administrator, separately walked up to the religion professor, put their hands on his shoulders and said this was not the time to raise these concerns.
Dr. Berkson will presumably be looking for new opportunities next semester.

This could all be resolved if someone just pointed out that Islam is a fake religion. Probably Muslims have never been told this fact and would appreciate learning about the one true faith, that which Pastor Zeke preaches here at Landover Baptist.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

Yes, Mr. Mayor, as soon as people realize they're getting worked up about something that doesn't even exist - academic integrity, free speech, etc. - they will be calm. The benevolent administrators are already on board. I found a clip of that meeting with the foreign students where the disruptive instructor was comforted by authorities. All is calm.

Although it may be true that various belief systems——identified in The Bible as false and deliberately deceptive——are offended by inconvenient facts, there is a parallel reality where what they find offensive is against The Law Of The Land. How many reasons can there be for such a person (me, say) to leave a place like that and go somewhere my beliefs are NOT respected?
1. Because I find the result of such respect unacceptable?
2. Because I have insufficient respect myself to actually live where my values are implemented?
3. Because I despise other creeds and wish to substitute my own wherever I can?
4. Because I actually despise my own purported ideology?
Four is an interesting case: it would produce cognitive dissonance. That is expressed in some very specific ways and very easy to identify in others: less so in oneself. Jesus was not only aware of this but also had a solution.
Matthew 5:39 [Jesus speaking]
I say unto you That ye resist not evil but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek turn to him the other also

The college's name is Hamline. How can Muslim students feel safe and respected at a college whose name begins with Ham? They need to change the name pronto.

How can the Muzz feel safe and respected in a white, Christian nation under God which owes its allegiance to Lord Jesus and is founded on the bedrock of the Bible? They should go back where they came from. Or, better yet, convert to Christianity and then go back where they came from and evangelize. What's next, censuring a professor of psychiatry because he offended a Scientologist?

Now now Mr. Lukes, the correct action here - as espoused by the Vice President of Inclusive Excellence - would be for the white, Christian nation to slap on blackface and convert to Islam. Of course, as Brother Dnow already said the name Hamline is completely disrespectful to Hamites, Jews and Muslims and needs to be canceled. The suffix line also suggests preference for 1-dimensional vector spaces - exclusivity! - what about higher planes???

At first I thought it was the one in that Jack Daniel's advert, where Mohammed is shown raising a glass and saying "Better than an oasis!"
However, I see that it is this one

I'm inspired to drink more beer - it's lucky we have such a supportive community.

In fact I don't reject this stuff, I don't even consider it in the first place. “His head's on fire,” I think, “Everything he says will be rubbish.” (Unless he asks for a bucket of water perhaps.) Now in the fulness of time the utterances have been tried out. We know they'll be ridiculous even before we find out what they are. Observing the antics of others, devotees ringing tiny bells for instance and prancing around in robes while everyone else starves or rots with leprosy, tells me everything I need to know before ever landing in India. When they want to tell me about their guru, I can see the result first hand so don't really need to know what the guru actually has to say. Similarly I don't need to go to the moon to see what its devotees admire because the outcome of that, just like the bells, is both uniform and ridiculous in its own right.
Didn't people see this guy getting inspired? Perhaps they misinterpreted what they saw – but anyway, I prefer the cave analogy. The artist has pulled it off quite well.
