Love Jesus Day 349: Hebrews 4-6 - 12-08-2016, 06:10 AM

Glory! Once more we learn more about the wonderful nature of Jesus Christ and are warned against falling away from Faith®. In Chapter 4 we learn that the promises God made to Israel during the Old Testament Days are but breadcrumbs compared to the wonderful promises that we have in Jesus. As an example, we hear about the Day of rest, the Sabbath. As an omnipotent God was knackered after the Powerful Act of Creation, so should we respect that and do our utmost: We ought to work very hard to rest, too.

Hebrews 4:10-11
For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

God will know if you fail in this.

Hebrews 4:12-13
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

Thus, God will watch your every step and guard you meticulously. Next, let us return to the more important issue, that of Jesus. He is now introduced to us as a high priest.

Hebrews 4:14
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

Again, we are reminded that as Jesus is an important figure, we should be careful and not trespass. This issue is further developed in Chapter 5.

Hebrews 5:5-6
So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Who is this Melchisedec (מַלְכִּי־צֶדֶֿק) and should we care? In fact, we should, as this is God's way of telling the Jews that they should choose Jesus! This is also the passage that we can use when we tell about Jesus's Good Message to the Hebrews. Melchisedec is the archetypal Messianic figure of the un-Christian Jewish tradition. It is a name that the Jews associated with the perfect man who lived a perfect life. As we well know, this can only be Jesus and anyone with even some wits will immediately see that it must be so upon reading these marvelous verses.

Hebrews 5:10-11
Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec. Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.

Still, people are stupid and fail to understand these simple Truths™. Therefore, harsh sturdy words are sometimes necessary to explain things to men in order to make them accountable adults before Jesus.

Hebrews 5:14
But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Verily, things are starting to make much more sense and refreshed by this realization we can now enter Chapter 6. Immediately, we are directed to contemplate upon the most important issues: What will happen if we fail in Faith™? The answer is clear: It will be all over for us!

Hebrews 6:4-6
For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

God will, as seen in many Books of the Bible and in many Gospels and many Epistles, punish those who reject Him most severely!

Hebrews 6:8
But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

In contrast, us True Christians™ will be rewarded richly!

Hebrews 6:10
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

Glory! We can trust this, as God cannot lie (deception [Jeremiah 4:10] and sending delusions [2 Thessalonians 2:11] are something else and only targeted at sinners and not at us True Christians™), and because we have Jesus who is of the Melchisedec (explained above for your convenience!)!!!

Hebrews 6:18-20
That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Next Time: More Important Issues about Melchisedec!

2 Kings 18:25 - Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
