The "Happy Warrior" is a term used to describe various preachers and politicians. It has been referred to in poetry. I think new people that come across our site and Landover Baptist think we are permanently unhappy. Nothing could be further from the truth. Every time we point out someone's sin, explain why they are not following the Bible or the rules laid out by our pastors, we are saving that person from a eternity in hell. That moment is a happy one. My favorite scripture on joy is John 22:16. It tells us that short term suffering leads to happiness.

... true, very true... and what is this earthly life other than a brief sojourn in an eternity of bliss?

If we can put up with the pain of a yellow-jacket sting for a few hours in our life, how much less is three score and ten years in several billion?


This resentment at being told that your actions are not in accordance with God's will is sheer orneriness! I sometimes wonder if people want to be Saved!
