How Can We at Landover Avoid Pastor Burnout -
11-27-2021, 04:41 AM
Our Pastors at Landover Baptist Church are very well paid, drive Cadilac Escapades and enjoy huge homes. But fighting sin and raising money for LBC might be taking a toll we have not been monitoring.
All throughout Christianity there is talk of pastors being overworked and suffering burnout. We need to be thinking of how we can give ours some space and some time away from fighting sin.
I wonder if spending a week each year in Mara Largo would be what they need. President Trump lives there and seems in the pink of condition. There is constant relaxation there--unfortunately we would not want our pastors taking part in Happy Hour every day nor the Trump entourage of beautiful women that are everywhere. But just being in such luxurious surroundings might do our pastors a world of good.

I'm on duty 25/7 and in communication with Jesus and the Donald even more. It can become exhausting. I need more helping hands, which means more tithes for y'all, capische. I also need to get a diplomatic visa to the Philippines as my Filipino houseboy stock is growing old. I can deal with the 15-yo's but the 16 yo's are getting too too old for their duties. I need my soothing baths and massages and while those who reach 16 are still eligible for yard chores and can help Unca Rutherford (or whatever that guy is called) with the sewers, their callused hands are much too harsh on my delicate parts. Need to upgrade the population by at least 6-7 new boys asap. You don't wish to see me burnout cause it would bring the wrath of Jesus upon the nation. Stay safe from the china flu with prayer yall.
Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:
Hypocrites (Matthew 24:51), The Unforgiving (Mark 11:26), Homosexuals (Romans 1:26, 27), Fornicators (Romans 1:29), The Wicked (Romans 1:29), The Covetous (Romans 1:29), The Malicious (Romans 1:29), The Envious (Romans 1:29), Murderers (Romans 1:29), The Deceitful (Romans 1:29), Backbiters (Romans 1:30), Haters of God (Romans 1:30), The Despiteful (Romans 1:30), The Proud (Romans 1:30), Boasters (Romans 1:30), Inventors of evil (Romans 1:30), Disobedient to parents (Romans 1:30), Covenant breakers (Romans 1:31), The Unmerciful (Romans 1:31), The Implacable (Romans 1:31), The Unrighteous (1Corinthians 6:9), Idolaters (1Corinthians 6:9), Adulterers (1Corinthians 6:9), The Effeminate (1Corinthians 6:9), Thieves (1Corinthians 6:10), Drunkards (1Corinthians 6:10), Reviler (1Corinthians 6:10), Extortioners (1Corinthians 6:10), The Fearful (Revelation 21:8), The Unbelieving (Revelation 21:8), The Abominable (Revelation 21:8), Whoremongers (Revelation 21:8), Sorcerers (Revelation 21:8), All Liars (Revelation 21:8)

Thank you for clarifying your requirements, Pastor Zeke. You have always been very reasonable in what you need and all the committees at Landover are on board to provide you with all of that.
My comments were directed more at your staff pastors. We know that you are a frequent guest of President Trump at Mara Largo and have no need for Landover's assistance. I just read about membership in Mara Largo and wondered what it would cost us to provide it for all pastors. The site talks about member's benefits but stops short of mentioning the cost. Perhaps it is a negotiated thing.
While our pastors would be kicking back and getting charged up ready to take on sin back at work, they would also be meeting some of the world's most important men and most beautiful women. I think it is something we should look into.

One way to motivate the staff Pastors might be to bring in some new guys from abroad on working visas. There's also the youth Pastors and a bullpen full of emerging talent to call on. This can do wonders for motivating the rank and file, who sometimes need to be reminded they can find alternative arrangements if their schedule is not joyful enough for them. There's plenty of room in the bunkhouse for more beds if the common spaces are repurposed. Senior Pastors need not be concerned about sharing, at this point.

Not a bad idea, but I'm so concerned about young homers infiltrating our sacred pastor core. Certainly, we don't want to put sin on our payroll. All ideas are welcome, let's keep exploring this to see if we come up with the perfect solution.

Oh I see, yes Mr Mayor. What about the carrot and stick approach? Some ideas for "the stick" might be progressive fines for poor performances, weekly reviews, checklists, additional service, beatings, etc. "The carrot" can be literally a carrot, or prepaid grocery card. These are time-tested methods in the private sector.

Pastor Flint, Sir, I don't have access to any flips but I can get you Mexican kids if you want them. My motel maids have so many siblings, cousins, and nieces and nephews (I don't employ the deflowered ones that have already had their own litters) in their huge anchor clans that they rarely notice if one or two go missing for a while. The boys and girls are incapable of human communication, merely chattering in that taco babble, so they won't complain to anyone who matters. Just no bruises on the face or forearms, their parents would ask questions.

It's hard today to open a Christian news site without seeing a pastor who has fallen to the sin of sex. Often it is with an attractive member of his congregation who no doubt seduced him.
I think the ability of a pastor to turn his back on a wily and attractive church member depends on the level of stress he is under in his preaching career. Preachers today are put under pressure to build congregation numbers and bring in more revenue. No wonder they do not have the energy to resist sinful temptations.

Well my first Pastor used to say, what's the point of grace if you can't spend it on something.

Perhaps we should consider whether out Pastors are paid enough for the services they perform. Participating in a church service led by Pastor Zeke, one understands exactly how the Apostles must have felt in the presence of Jesus. I don't know how one can put a price on Pastor Ezekiel's many contributions to our community, but his base salary, at just under $30 million per year, certainly doesn't cut it.
