Default Day 163. Psalm 41-45 - 11-05-2008, 06:54 PM

Psalm 41-45

Psalm 41

1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.

Note, it says "considereth" the poor, it doesn't actually say you have to DO anything about them.

2 The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

We should take a moment each day to consider the poor, so the LORD will bless us.

5 Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?

This could be read one of two ways, 1. The enemy asks when shall I die, and my name perish. 2. When will my enemy die and his name perish. I am filled with joy when I think of it the second way.

11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

True wisdom, is knowing that the LORD favors you because you don't lose.

13 Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.

From before time, to after time.

Psalm 42

1 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

A hart is a kind of deer.

3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?

More examples of David's fey-ish behaviour, just sitting around crying all day. He's worse than a woman faking post-partum depression.

9 I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

The Holy Spirit obviously led us to this scripture on this darkest of days

11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

Just because there's going to be a negro in the WHITE house, doesn't mean we have to stop worshiping the LORD!

Psalm 43

1 Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.

How many people today actually BEG to be judged? Are you pure enough to actually ask the LORD to judge you, or will you get to heaven and say "Judge not"??? Why are you scared to be judged? If you are ashamed of your behaviour, just stop doing it.

5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

Trust me, if you do nothing all day except PRAISE THE LORD, you won't have any reason to fear judgement.

Psalm 44

1 We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.

What have you done for me lately?

5 Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.

Although, right now, after last night's election, I feel kind of like Job.

9 But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.

We probably deserved it though, heck, Iowa voted for Obama!

11 Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.

Damn demoncrats are everywhere!

13 Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.

You know the neighbours! The ones with Obama-Biden in their front yards! I will not take down my McCain-Palin yard sign!

18 Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;

If he is an agent of change, then maybe he can change to be a Republican?

26 Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies' sake.

Palin 2012!

Psalm 45

6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.

God is just!

13 The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.

Wouldn't that be kind of heavy?

17 I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.

Who is he talking about?

So what have we learned today?

1. Think about the poor, but you don't have to actually do anything.

2. David is a cry-baby.

3. Are you prepared for judgment?

Default Re: Day 163. Psalm 41-45 - 03-04-2009, 04:23 AM

Let's take a look at Psalm 41:9, Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

Several Bible commentators, for some reason, seem to believe that the point of this verse was to prophesy Judas' betrayal of Jesus. I don't buy it. It seems odd to me that in the middle of a yet another psalm where David is once again whining about how his enemies are all out to get him, he interrupts for a moment to give an obscure prophecy that no one will get until well after the prophesied event, and then continues the whiny rant.

It's obvious to me that this psalm refers to the events in II Samuel 15-17, and the man he is referring to in verse 9 is Ahithophel the Gilonite, his counselor who betrayed him for Absalom. If you recall, Ahithophel is the fellow who told Absalom that all he had to do was "go in unto" David's concubines to become king.

Upon request I will cite scripture for all these facts in God's Holy Word.

✝ This is a Christian community and we worship GOD of the Holy bible, the only Living GOD. We worship Jesus Christ, Son of GOD and Savior. Anything else is absurd. ✝
