Default Day 27. Exodus 31-33 - 10-01-2007, 04:41 PM

Exodus 31-33

Today we get:
  • Who the carpenters and builders are.
  • Sabbath law
  • The golden calf
  • Moses goes to tabernacle

Exodus 31.

2 See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:

6 And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan: and in the hearts of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee;

Bezaleel and Aholiab are the guys who will make, the tabernacle, ark, the mercy seat, the furniture, the candlestick, the altar, the cloths, the oil, and the incense.

They should make the anointing oil last, because if they get any of that calamus oil on themselves, they may start hallucinating.

But they were master craftsmen, so I doubt they would have trouble or spill any.

Next, God tells Moses about the Sabbath work law.

14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

Of course, you'd kill them the next day. Killing on the sabbath would be considered work. Hmmm... is seeing someone else working on the sabbath spying, and would that be work?

15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.

Just to reiterate the point, work on sabbath, be put to death.

18 And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

I wonder what was on those tables of stone?

Exodus 32

Apparently, Moses was on the mount for a long time. Long enough for the people to ONCE AGAIN stop believing in Moses and God.

1 And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

Now, exactly why Aaron would comply, that's because he was pressured.

So Aaron tells the people to bring him their golden earrings and he will make something out of it.

4 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

Aaron made the golden calf, then claimed (to appease the people) that it is what led them from Egypt.

The next day, the people had a feast and a party, God hears them, and decides, He's going to kill them all.

9 And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:

10 Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.

God says He's going to kill Israel, and make the nation from Moses.

Moses then reminds God that He made that promise with Abraham, Isaac and Israel, He doesn't need to make it again with Moses.

God then felt kind of bad about what He wanted to do.

14 And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.

This verse leads to some questions that most religions avoid at all costs:

1. Who does God repent to?
2. Does God do evil?
3. If God repents, does he make mistakes?
4. If God needs to repent, is he really all powerful?
5. If God makes mistakes (that he needs to repent for) does He know the future? If so, why did He make the mistake when He knows the outcome?

This isn't the only time that God will repent. This isn't the only time that God claims evil. Most religions will say that these questions can all be answered by claiming mankind has "freewill".

15 And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.

16 And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

Surely these would probably be the most beautiful stones in the world.

Joshua hears a noise in the camp and tells Moses that there is a war. Moses says: 18 And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.

This REALLY pisses off Moses.

19 And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.

Moses broke the two tables of testimony, and we never got to read what was on them.

20 And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

Moses then blames Aaron for what happened.

22 And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief.

Aren't all jews set on mischief?

25 And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies

This may be the first emoticon in the Bible (KJV1611).

Moses then asks, who will fight for the LORD?

The children of Levi (remember Levi, him and Simeon were the ones who killed all the men they just circumcised of the Hivites) they (of course) volunteered.

28 And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

Exodus 32:28, the children of Levi kill about 3,000 people who worshiped the golden calf.

Moses then goes back up to God and asks that God forgives the people, but if he won't that Moses names is removed from the Book of Life. God says He will just blot out those who sinned.

35 And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.

Exodus 33.

1 And the LORD said unto Moses, Depart, and go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it:

God then promises to send an angel to lead them (instead of the pillar of cloud and the light at night) but He's not gonna do it anymore, because the people are stiffnecked, and we know what stiffnecked people need don't we?

4 And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments.

So Moses moves the Tentbernacle out of the camp, and goes out to meet with God. All the people (without their ornaments) watch him go.

9 And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses.

Once again, the people believe in God, but only when He is right there.

10 And all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door: and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door.

How did the Jewish religion last more than 10 years?

11 And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

This is rather interesting, because just 9 verses later.

20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

Then God hides Moses behind a rock, and Moses watches God's glorious booty walk past.

23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

That ends todays reading. Lets discuss the golden calf a little more.

Some people claim that this event marked the end of the Age of Taurus, somewhere around 2150 BC. These people claim that the Bible (KJV1611) is just another story of the Zodiac. Taurus is represented as a bull.

The Age after Taurus is Aries. Now Aries is represented as a ram. Tomorrow, we will get to read this:

Exodus 34:29 And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.

One of the earlier translations had it saying that instead of Moses' face becoming radiant, that it grew horns. (I know, I'm a day ahead of myself) (If you look for Moses images, you will find many with horns).

Some people say that Moses was the embodiment of the Age of Aries. His coming destroyed/ended Taurus, the golden calf. The age of Aries lasted until, right around the year 0.

These same people will have you believe that the next age (our current age) of Pisces will last until 2150. That the person who ended the Age of the Ram, the person who said you no longer need to slaughter the Paschal Lamb, was Jesus. Pisces is the symbol of the fish. Those blasphemers who think the Bible is astrology, will have you believe that people with the Ichthys (Jesus fish) are really only carrying around a symbol of the Age of Pisces.

This is rubbish. These people would have you believe, that when Jesus said Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. That he meant, until the year 2150. When the age of Aquarius will take over.

Now Aquarius is normally represented as a water bringer. These people claim that right before the passover, when Jesus had the Last Supper, that this verse Luke 22:10 And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in. is where Jesus says the next age is Aquarius. That his end (Pisces) is the beginning of Aquarius.

This is rubbish!

So what have we learned today:

1. Don't do work on Sabbath, you will be killed.

2. Don't worship the calf, you will be killed.

3. The Bible (KJV1611) is NOT a story of the Zodiac.
