Default Day 170. Psalm 76-80 - 12-01-2008, 11:21 PM

Psalm 76-80

Psalm 76

5 The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.

Something good must have just happened in Israel. It's one of those happy, God just killed my enemies, type of psalm.

7 Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

Something big had to have happened.

8 Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,

The Day the Earth Stood Still, coming soon to a theater near you.

9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.

Now the psalmist is claiming to be meek, how proud he sounds to call himself meek. One shouldn't be able to label oneself meek, someone else should have to do that.

Psalm 77

2 In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.

EEEW, MY SORE RAN IN THE NIGHT, just friggin eeeew.

4 Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.

Sounds like a classic case of Sleep Paralysis. Also known as the Old Hag Syndrome.

9 Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.

God doesn't forget, He just chose not to give you relief.

18 The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.

The lightnings lighted, and Noah pitched with pitch.

Psalm 78

1 Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?

2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:

If you are speaking in parable, then, there's a good chance, that I won't understand the words that are coming out of your mouth.

12 Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.

Marvelous means, incredibe, excellent, great, miraculous, supernatural, first-rate.

We are about to get a run-down of the time in the wilderness, and the marvellous plagues of Egypt.

13 He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap.

Red Sea.

14 In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.

Leading them around for 40 years.

16 He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.

Water from rocks (and enough to quench the thirst over a half a million people).

24 And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.

Manna.

27 He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea:

Quails... loads and loads of quails.

38 But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

Of course, none of the original's except for Joshua and Caleb.

Now we get a retelling of the wonders in Egypt.

(I think we are all familiar with them. If not, go back and read Day 19. and Day 20.)

Remember, being Jews, they often forgot about God, which angered Him, but then they asked forgiveness, and He did. I REALLY mean OFTEN.

Psalm 79

1 O god, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.

How often does it happen, the Jews forget God, and he forgets them, and then they are over run by someone.

4 We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

If they really loved their God, and did what He said, would there be a problem with Palestine? It seems even the Jews now believe in a hippy version of God, and not the one that they read about. The God of the Bible (KJV1611) would want modern jews to clear off the temple mount and rebuild ... oh... THE TEMPLE! Modern Jews won't do it, they don't want to offend.

9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake.

They should be praying Psalm 79:9, instead of signing peace treaties!

Psalm 80

3 Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

Maybe if the Jews stopped to actually drive out the heathen, God would cause his face to shine on them again.

4 O LORD God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?

Are thy people even praying anymore?

6 Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: and our enemies laugh among themselves.

And then they blow themselves up. Perhaps if you blew them up before, they wouldn't make it all the way to the main parts of jerusalem with bombs strapped to their bodies!

14 Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;

15 And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.

I'm not hearing this from modern jews, only Oy vey!

19 Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

Once again, the Jew asks for salvation, and then promises to follow, instead of following, and RECEIVING the salvation.

So what have we learned?

1. Modern Jews are wussies.

2. Modern Jews don't think enough about when they left Egypt, just once a year on/around passover, and then it's only because they are bitching about not being able to have any real bread, or calling their dad's to find out if a certain kind of oil is ok to use or not.

3. God leaves, then comes back... again.

I believe Psalm 76 was written after David conquered Rabbah and then tortured all the residents to death with saws, plows, axes, and brickkilns, in II Samuel 12:26-31.

Ps 76:11-12 Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared. He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.

Amen! Vow and pay! Israel's neighbors should be paying tribute to Israel, out of fear of the LORD!

Upon request I will cite scripture for all these facts in God's Holy Word.

✝ This is a Christian community and we worship GOD of the Holy bible, the only Living GOD. We worship Jesus Christ, Son of GOD and Savior. Anything else is absurd. ✝
