So I Had A Baby Girl...And I Don't Know What To Do With It -
02-19-2022, 07:21 AM
Up until a few months ago, I was the proud mother of five fine upstanding and clean limbed boys. So when it came time to give birth, I was shocked and dismayed to have a girl. I know I let my husband and my God down and I will never forgive myself for that. Nor should I.
But being as it's a girl, I have no idea what to do with it. I haven't even named it yet. We had planned on naming our boys after the books of the New Testament - Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Acts. Should we name her Romans? Or just call her "Girl"?
This is all so new to me. Any advice from you wonder Christian ladies would be appreciated.

How about sending her in a monastery when she grows up? She might be a good nun in her future.

As she is a girl, I presume she is safe from your advances.

What is done, is done.
The best you can do is try to figure out what you did wrong that caused God's ire to punish you.
With some fierce praying and proof to you Him that you learned your lesson, God may bestow you with His Grace.
I've heard of cases where the female simply vanishes by a miracle, taken back to the repository in the ethers. Some get caught in machinery.
I've heard is rare cases, God will change the gender of a girl to a boy. I believe a Louis Reed fellow wrote a song about it.
I'll pray for God to forgive your trangressions.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Congratulations to you and your husband, dear Dana. One hopes that your lack of producing another soldier for will not be a detriment to your parenting. I can well imagine how upsetting it must have been for you, to realize that you had brought another Eve — a temptress(!) — into the world.
But, all is not lost. You must do your very best to raise and to train the little one in the ways of the — guiding her, daily, as she becomes a servant in holy living for Almighty . And, with that in mind, you might like to start by teaching her the basics at an early age: things that will be necessary for her to live a life that is pleasing to .
This verse from the blessed will help her to learn her place quickly, and it's one that will pertain to her throughout all of her days:
I Corinthians 14:34 "Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law."
That will also pertain to your obligation as a mother to take the little baby to the nursery when in church. We mustn't have outbursts of crying when is preaching!
And, as for a name, since the above-noted verse from Scripture is so relevant, why not give your little girl a name that will help to remind her of her holy duties? I can think of no better example than by naming your little baby girl Corinthia.
Do feel free to write in, at any time, for more helpful advice, dear Dana — here, at .

There is a time and a place to be skeptical and/or reject modern science and a time to permit it to exist. Advances in archeology are good when they can be used to prove the Bible. Aeronautics are good when they provide Pastor Zeke with a jet plane. You get the point.
Science has shown that the sex (not the "gender", the-honest-to-goodness-sex) of the baby lies in a chromosome provided by the father. The mother's contribution is mostly room and board.
So, do not blame yourself. Women may be subject to men but The Lord redeems us and your daughter can still serve His Holy Purpose. Raise her right in The Lord and she may fetch a decent bride price. Some Christian man in the future will need a wife to bear him sons. Having a lot of brothers is a good sign that she will be up to the task.
His left hand should be under my head, and his right hand should embrace me.

As is the way when you place things in His hands, a precedent is made available. Have you considered any names? What about Dinah?

I appreciate all the advice, except for that pedophile priest. My husband has decided to name her Tabitha and perhaps she will be a hardworking woman. Goodness knows I could use some help around the house. Although she seems quite useless now. Just lies around crying and pooping. I'll read her the Bible each night and hopefully she'll be a decent Christian woman in time.

Do not hesitate to use a strong hand with a child. I've found that until one becomes and adult, they need simple and direct methods of communication. Proper teaching should start as soon as possible before bad habits arise.
My prayers are with you during this troubling time.

Unless you have three arms, reading The Bible during feeding can be awkward. The KJV is public domain and audio versions are readily available. Make sure they continue from chapter to chapter, as this one does, so that the comfort of hearing God's Word will not be interrupted during the feeding experience.

Don't you mean convent? I can imagine a bunch of pervy Cathlick monks would be even more disappointed to find out their new baby is female than poor Dana was. And it's pretty rude of you to suggest that Dana's offspring might grow up to be so ugly and cruel that she'd make a good nun. Better watch that mouth if you know what's good for you, papist.

Don't be too disheartened Dana. I started well by bearing a son but have since had two girls. We are learning together to better serve the men of the house and growing together as we do. There are many things I find hard but I am learning and getting better.

Zephaniah 3:14 Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem. Not everyone has sons in The Bible. A good example is Lot, a righteous man, a man of faith. He had two unmarried daughters and two sons-in-law so I guess that's four daughters altogether. Probably the first two preferred to trollop it up in Sodom because once rescued—the mother was no good—there was only Lot and two daughters remaining.

If none of us had any daughters, who would our sons marry? True Christianity™ would surely be doomed to extinction, or at least to extreme dilution, by an endless stream of untrained "outsider" wives.
I have only one daughter, my fourth child, Hannah. She is delightful (insofar as any 13-year-old female can be called that) and well versed in both the Bible and her household duties. I also have three stepdaughters, all now married to True Christian™ men and living far away (thank you, for that blessing).
My advice would be that unless the problem of daughters persists, in which case you are on your own (or soon will be!) you should simply bite the bullet and remember Ecclesiastes 6:10: That which hath been is named already, and it is known that it is man: neither may he contend with him that is mightier than he.

I am a simple man and like the simple solutions that Gods gives us by His Holy Word.
Psalm 137:9
Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.

So very true, Brother Hutchins, and I don't think there's a single True Christian™ mother who hasn't been tempted to try this, the final solution to the trials of parenthood. But we note the "he" in that verse and await - generally in vain - out husbands' action.
Please do not take this as a personal criticism, Brother. We all know that you are a man of action.

Great to see you posting on other topics. Jesus had something to say about all sorts of things: taxes, adultery, demons, blindness, not always in accordance with the teachings of denominations (Methodists, Presbyterians, Salvation Army etc.) seeming never to have compared their ideas with God's explanation, sometimes thousands of years ago. That's - some - provenance - right there. The more archaeologists discover the better we understand the reliability of The Bible, for example scrolls dug up (various times) show us that documents from so long ago are the same as texts we read today.

Re-reading the intro of your opening sentence, The Lord has granted me discernment regarding the spiritual struggle at the heart of your problem.
You were prideful. Your own words confirm this. As someone who purports to read and follow God's Holy Word, it seems that you should have seen the outcome of such pride.
This little collection from Proverbs is but a small sampling.
Proverbs 11:2 - When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.
Proverbs 16:5 - Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
Proverbs 29:23 - A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.
Proverbs 16:18 - Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
In the future, when asked about your children, it would be wiser to declare yourself "the grateful mother of " then you can fill in the blanks regarding how many children of each gender The Lord sees fit to deliver into your life. You might also be mindful that The Lord not only decides when to bless your womb and with which gender of child, it is also His Grace which determines how many limbs your offspring will sport.
His left hand should be under my head, and his right hand should embrace me.

Now there is a question.
Partly it depends on your definition heresy. But I suspect the answer is yes and I know I have been guilty of this too in times off error.
I once believed I had a much right to rule in the home as my husband and what is that if not heresy.
I think we need to choose to take the route of grace with one another as far as we can, though off course that does not mean compromise or failing to call one another out when the need arises.

It's pretty easy, when someone's "private revelation" produces an idea that differs from what God has already revealed. For example the question of Manna – a type of food provided to The Israelites during their very long trek through the wilderness. Should we eat Manna today? Or go looking for it? What was appropriate in that time and place is one thing. What we're instructed to do today may not be the same.
Bat. Boiled? Fried? Not in the wilderness, there it was prohibited. From the historical record: https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Deuteronomy-Chapter-14/ There are people who claim that God's requirement for eating in a particular place for a certain time period was permanent. Now, they say, we are obliged to follow those same restrictions. They are contradicting God and therefore what they say on any topic should be disregarded – because they could be demon possessed or hallucinating or just making stuff up to sell some product they've latched on to or have got stuck with and are trying to shift (a vegan recipe book and "essential" ingredients at highly inflated prices, for instance) anyway you get the idea, I'm sure. https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Acts-10-13/
