There are many, many others who would swear by this relevance, Sparky. They are a real presence in this world, and they are set on reforming it to suit their doctrine. It would be wise of you to acquaint yourself with the Bible so that you can know what to expect.

Though this is true, it is a very sad thing that this is so. Modern day morals are fundamentally opposed to Biblical Morality, and the police are an extension of the secular powers that control our government, and subscribe to these unbiblical morals. We can only pray for Jesus to return soon.

This is something you are completely wrong about. We do not interpret the Bible: we do what it says.
Of course, many Christians say that, but you can check it by checking the Scripture we quote to support our words. I don't think you can give us an example where any one of us derived from Scripture in our conversations with you, and nowhere did we interpret the Bible to mean anything else than it says. Unless you can provide such an example, you have to admit that we are true to the Bible.
Sweet Lord Jesus,
I want to pray for those who persecute me, my Lord.
Please, treat their children as you treated those of Egypt, when they upset you! (Psalm 135:8-9)
Dash their little children against the stones for their fathers iniquity! (Psalm 137:8-9)
Hit them on the cheek, and smash out their teeth! (Psalm 3:7)
Make their death and descent into Hell swift and terrible! (Psalm 55:15)
Scatter their broken bodies over the streets of their evil cities, like Benghazi, Amsterdam, Tokyo and Mecca! (Psalm 110:6)
Praised be Your Glorious Name™.
Amen.

I have offered you no "interpretation" of the Bible to speak of. I have stated that LBC offers a clear and concise presentation of the exact words of the Bible.
Have I "interpreted" the pertinent verses in Deuteronomy that address the issue framed in this thread?
READ the verses, Sparky! YOU are the one who appears to want to interpret the words in such as way so that they do not offend your sensibilities. I read the words and accept that they mean just what they say. Modern ideas be damned. The Bible itself states that the Word of the Lord endures forever and that every word is valuble for instruction.
I simply do not understand where you have gotten the idea that your interpretation -- or mine for that matter -- can change something so clearly rendered in black and white.
To answer your questions-- even though they have absolutely no bearing on Biblical examination -- yes, I am female, and no, I am not married.
I was married to a nice, lovely gentleman who was a self-identified Bible Believing Christian. He, and others in his congregation, would not argue with those verses in Deuteronomy that discuss a women crying out or not if she is being confronted with a man who intends to have sex with her.
I know this for a FACT because I had a discussion with one of the women-- note the gender-- of the church about the story of King David's daughter Tamar. Tamar was lured into her half-brother's room right there in the palace. He said he was sick and wanted his half-sister to tend him. Instead, he really wanted to lay with her. When he made his move, Tamar asked him to go to her father for permission to marry her instead of just doing the deed then and there. The half-brother was not moved by this plea.
My friend insisted that Tamar was in the wrong, based on Biblical president, declaring " But she didn't cry out! She didn't cry out!" The point that this woman was stressing is that Tamar was within earshot of assistance and yet did not summon help.
You know, Sparky, at the time, I really had a problem with this, as well as those verses in Deuteronomy that have you so worked up.
I resolved my conflict by accepting the Bible for what it is, and stopped trying to "interpret" it beyond its simple face value.
I invite you to do the same.
Sincerely Yours,
Handmaiden

Quick question-Islam also have a religious book, why is yours right and there's is wrong?
I can't give an example because I don't read whatever language the Bible was originally written in (Aramaic?)
I think the police would be right in this instance actually

Because God says it is, of course:
1 John 4:14-16:
And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
The Qu'ran denies that Jesus was the Son of God, so God dwelleth not in the Qu'ran. Very simple.

Then you apparently think God's Laws are wrong. I would like to remind you on the Biblical punishment for such a sentiment:
Deuteronomy 29:19-20:
And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst: The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.

How about other religions? They have religious writings and stories, but you choose to believe in this God............ I'm just curious why.
Did your parents bring you up in this faith?

Mine certainly did not. My parents got me toilet trained and taught me to spell my last name and then left me alone while they went off to bail my brothers out of jail.
And why would anyone follow a bunch of silly stories about Buddha walking on water or Sargon of Akkad being born of a virgin and being sent down a river in a basket of rushes?
Do those writings promise protection from eternal hell to those who believe in them? No!
Only the Bible is honest enough to describe the fate of those who disobey its commands. And only the God of the Bible is decent enough to show us that the way to avoid this terrible fate is by obeying the Bible.
It is all so simple, Sparky. Stop kicking against the pricks, as Jesus said to Paul in the Book of The Acts of the Apostles. Accept the pricks; they have your best interests at heart.
Encouragingly Yours,
Handmaiden

Well this is a worrying look into the mindset of people considered of influence. I am from England, and this shocks and astounds me. I Believe in God, i am entitled to my own opinion but i do not believe in the written God, i believe in my own views. I do not expect anybody else to believe as i do but this makes no sense to me.
to the men, do you think if you were a young female and had been raped your first idea was the man who just terrorised you physically and mentaly. Attempted to destroy your life by fuffilling his own sick pleasure. No. And to the females i ponder the same concept, you would honest try to feel sympathy and side with this person?
We all have free will and the right to live our lives how we want. Even if that person is not christian does that mean they should be abused? No. They dress how they like to, not because they want to provoke a reaction of that sort. If they wanted to, it would not be rape. If they intend it to happen and consent it's just sex. I seriously hope you do not pass these ideals on to others. Rape is a horrible thing and something that should not exist, the fact it does is horrifying look at humanities darker side, and you are saying this is ok? You consider yourselves to be moral people whilst condoning one of the most horrific acts from one individual to another? There is nothing wrong with being Gay also you clearly have no idea about homosexuality if you think compassion for others makes you Gay. I would explain every point and retort to everything in this thread, but although i am very open minded, i can see most people here are not and will simply write this off completely. But if you do read this, i hope your subconcious realises the mistakes you make and the denial that some people live in.

Original poster looks like a pedophile.
What happens if a girl is 12 and is raped. Should she marry him too? What if a 20 year old girl is raped by her brother? Should they then be wed?

I love people who interpred the bible completely wrong. OH, and btw, the bible wasn't written by god himself. It was written by different people, non of them being gods secretary. I'm just surprised that there can be so much stupidy in a single human.
But it in the bible it already says "Blessed are those who are spiritually needy. The kingdom of heaven belongs to them"
So stupid and spiritual sick people like you all come to heaven anyway.
I just wished i'd knew some of you personally so i had something to laugh about every day.

Well isn't that a loving thing to say? Who are you to judge us?

So, if I raped YOUR 8 or 9 year old daughter you would let me marry her?

A friend of mine forwarded this link to me.
I am appalled and ashamed to even share the same soil as some of you people. First off it states in the bible that sex alone is a sin if a man and woman are not married. So I don't know where you are all getting your information from, but it's totally twisted.
1 Corinthians 6:18-20 & 1 Corinthians 7:1-2
"Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband."
That's number 1.
My second point:
Isaiah 26:3
Jesus replied:
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.
I hate to break this to all of you, and I'm probably wasting my time here, (as a matter of fact, I know that I am) but my neighbors are not white, and they are amazing people. My friends are not white and they are amazing people, some of them are even gay, guess what? Amazing people. They all believe that GOD loves them, just like I know GOD loves me.
Deuteronomy 31:6
A merry heart does good like a medicine; but a broken spirit dries the bones.
Those of you to even fathom this is a topic of discussion are all broken in spirit and I will pray for all of you tonight that you find the TRUE path of GOD and recognize ALL WALKS OF LIFE are his children.
1 Thessalonians 5:22-23:
"Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Genesis 1:27
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God
he created him; male and female he created them.
"Do unto others as you would have them do to you". Luke 6:31
How is that for some scripture?
I will not be returning. Peace be with you.

oh and ummm... one more thing.
God does NOT condone Rape.
http://www.carm.org/rape
"But if in the field the man finds the girl who is engaged, and the man forces her and lies with her, then only the man who lies with her shall die. 26"But you shall do nothing to the girl; there is no sin in the girl worthy of death, for just as a man rises against his neighbor and murders him, so is this case. 27"When he found her in the field, the engaged girl cried out, but there was no one to save her," (Deut. 22:25-28).

No one but a pedophile would entertain such a disgusting notion. If you're trying to find an "easy route" to pull off sex and marriage with a nine-year old, you will not find it here. Also, I think you're confusing Christianity with Islam, which supports child marriage.

I don't believe you even read the Bible verse in question. Of course it's a sin to have sex before marriage....that's why a rapist should marry his victim! If he does not marry her, they are both sinning. God figured this out a long time ago. Who are you to have the audacity to question His judgment?

That is not Isaiah 26:3. It's supposed to be Matthew 22:36-40, but you are quoting an errant translation. Here are the actual verses.
36Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38This is the first and great commandment.
39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

My friends are not white and they are amazing people, some of them are even gay, guess what? Amazing people. They all believe that GOD loves them, just like I know GOD loves me.

I hate to break this to you, and I'm probably wasting my time here (as a matter of fact, I know that I am) but you are a false Christian who cherry picks what you want out of the Bible. Scripture clearly says you are in the wrong. First off, God commands us to seperate from unsaved scum. They are not to be our neighbors.
2nd Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
1st John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
2nd John 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
2nd John 1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
2nd John 1:11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
Therefore you should not be neighbors with gays. You must keep yourself apart from their filthy sin. And no, sorry, God doesn't love them. No fluffy cloudy heaven for those wicked sodomites!
Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Romans 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Romans 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Romans 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Another misquote! This is supposed to be Proverbs 17:22. It is plainly obvious you do not read the Bible if you keep making these bonehead mistakes!
