Major Johny Joe Hold asked me to make this poll. I have no idea what it is about.

I thought Sister Phebe would own the building, and operate the non-profit on the upper floors, then lease out the lower floor for the other uses.
Bible boring? Nonsense!

That is certainly the plan Rev. Rodimer. As long as the party wanting to lease out the lower floor is not a money-grubbing joo, I will be a happy woman.

What a false dillemma we're confronted with in terms of these two options.
It's obvious that no one wants Freehold to become a haven for money-grubbing joo loan sharks. We're doing quite nicely, thank you, with the dozens of pay day loan centers and pawn shops currently operated by Godly Baptists.
Yet with regard to the proposal to make the site into a coffee shop, I don't believe coffee is mentioned in the Bible, and according to Conservapedia, it's AFRICAN, and was popularized in EUROPE in the 17th Century. Who needs a Euro-style "gourmet" coffee shop where "elites" congregate to get hopped up on their daily "fix" of their caffeine drugs? We have enough churches and social groups in Freehold already without providing a gathering place for liberals and elites that could cause trouble. Caffeine may very well be a gateway drug to even stronger stuff.
Why can't we just build another Ronald Reagan statue, or commission another sculpture of an enormous pair of praying hands to sit on the property until Olive Garden or Hobby Lobby is ready to open a fifth location?

Great point, Brother. I hope, espeically, we can get some ovatures from Hobby Lobby. Their stores are filled with Christian items and they put the padlocks on the doors Sundays. That way, people are somewhat forced to attend church like they are supposed to do.

It's always best not to let any un-Christian business get a foothold anywhere, and it's the job of the zoning board to ensure that they don't. While we believe in the free market and capitalism, we don't believe in sin.
Once sin gets started, it's difficult to eradicate it as Godly Pastor Bill Dunfee in Coshocton County, Ohio found out. Pastor Dunfee and his congregation had spent months trying to get a strip club closed down by protesting outside their place of business, only to have the scantily clad strippers show up outside his church with protest signs and attract the attention of the national media. We can't afford to have that happen here in Freehold.
Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.
...and get off my lawn

Good thinking, Mr. Bryan. I wonder if we could change our zoning ordinances. Currently, land is zoned "commercial", "residential" and a few others. It seems like we could introduce a new zoning category called "sin free". That way, we could legally kept out the strip clubs and anything else the included sin.

Would the location be available for a civic project?
There might be some grant money available for a citywide video surveillance system. The monitoring equipment and security office would need around 2000 sq ft of space, preferably at street level.
Officer Richards could keep an eye on all the routes into Freehold to check for subversives, illegals, and contraband. This might be a nice upgrade for his department in these increasingly uncertain times.
