Could a True Christian beat a Rottweiller in a fight? -
01-17-2011, 01:39 PM
Sorry for posing such an odd question, brethren, but it was my elder son who asked me this.
Actually, he posed a number of potential opponents; BEAR, Rabid Fox, unarmed Atheist, Atheist with an axe, donkey, Irishman, and other various types of potentially rabid and fearsome opponents.
Now my dilemma is this:
My initial answer was YES of course.
But then he got me thinking with the example 'Herd of stampeding Wildebeest', and I thought, OK, a 1 to 1 fight.
Of course a True Christian would win. The Lord is with him.
To which my son replied ''Yes, but what if God had other ideas?''
I had to admit I really didn't know and that I'd ask the Pastors and other more knowledgeable Brothers.
So my question is this: Would a True Christian always win inj a 1 to 1 fight?
(I'd like examples with opponents if possible).
Thank you in advance, may Christ be with you.

I am certain me and my God given Smith and Wesson 500 Mag Hunter would win any fight.

I think True Christians™ can (and sometimes do) fail. But of course if it is the LORD's will.
I can give an example from personal experience. Like the time when I was presented with God's test. About 3 months ago a Mexican prostitution entrepreneur was really becoming a nuisance with some unfounded claims that I owed him money. I failed that test of God (although I did send a couple of harlots to hell). I ended up having to flee Cancun in shame of defeat and to this day it haunts me (mostly the possibility of them finding me).
This was a test of God and a lesson in humility. God can test us as He did with Job (Job 1:1 read the whole book) as I was tested but I triumphed over sin and evil, made my way back to Freehold and repented of my sins. I am now purer than the driven snow in God's eyes.
To answer your question brother I think it is irrelevan if a True Christian™ could beat a rotweiller or not, the important thing is do we have Jesus in our hearts?
Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. (Psalm 11:6)

Please don't shoot my dogs
Of course a True Christian™ can beat a Rottweiler in a fight. Have you never heard of Daniel in the Lions den? If God gave Daniel protection from lions I'm sure he would protect a True Christian™ from a mere dog.
Daniel Chapter 6 for those not familiar with the story.

As BelieverInGod said, we know for a fact that a Godly man like the prophet Daniel could easily win a fight with several lions! Let's remember this wonderful story we were all taught in Sunday School about the power of faith.
Daniel 6:16-23
16Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.
17And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.
18Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him.
19Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.
20And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?
21Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.
22My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.
23Then was the king exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.
So the moral of the story is: God will send angels to protect True Christians™ against vicious animals. So, I would think we could say with certainty that a True Christian™ could easily wallop a rottweiler in a fight. Heck, we could even pit a True Christian™ against something more dangerous....maybe bull grizzly bear, a Nile crocodile, a great white shark, and he could still come out unscathed.

Thank you all, especially Rev. Jim. So it is certainly high on the probability scale.
My son has since asked me if 'there are any circumstances in shich God would make a True Christian come 2nd in a fight?'
He also wanted to know about the limitations and types of beatable animals there are.
Thanks.

Brother McUinnean, I think your son would be especially interested in this scripture.
"Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." Luke 10:19
There is absolutely nothing that can harm us, because we have the protection of Jesus! Praise Him!
We can also walk all over snakes and scorpions if we really want to.

That's interesting because he's actually caught 2 snakes and 2 scoprions with his bare hands last year. Not bad for an 8 yr old.

I think we can beat every animal we want.
Yesterday i made an experiment with my wifes cat, her name is pippi. I slapped her on the butt, only to see if her eyes plop out. But pippi turned over and caught me cold. Her claws scratched into my skin. I just defended myself and threw her at the wardrobe. Today she limped around the house, so i told my wife that it is better to put her to sleep. I mean, who wants to see an animal suffer?

One thing is important to bear in mind:
Deuteronomy 6:16 Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.
This is so important that we're reminded about it twice in the New Testament:
Matthew 4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Luke 4:12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
So, if we tempt the Lord God, then bad things will follow. For instance, if I said to an atheist, "hey, look how mighty I am (with God's help), I'm going to tear this dog's head off!", then that might tempt God to humble my pride by showing me up in front of the atheist. So, if a True Christian loses a fight, that's probably what's happened. Or God might just be trying to win a bet with Satan, like when He allowed Satan to ruin Job's life. What's more important - your face remaining intact, or God getting to get one over on Lucifer?
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.
God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.
