It's vile beasts like the criminal lawyers who prosecuted Ted Stevens for accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in home renovations from an oilfield service company that have caused this great American patriot to lose his faith in the criminal justice system.

So was mine, Ted, so was mine. The criminal justice system used to be a system established to protect people like Ted, myself, and my humble readers. It was meant to circulate crack in the projects and then arrest people for using it. But what good is a justice system when it punishes the rich and powerful? Has Ted Stevens not earned immunity from most laws due to his years of service of our country and unyielding Americanism?

I hear you Wash, what is the point of a system were a member of the elite is treated like he was just some minority pauper, to be tormented for the amusement of government prosecutors. They destroyed Steven's carrier and disgraced his name like he was some kind of intercity black kid no ones cares about.

There is something terribly wrong with this country when a senior politician like Ted Stevens isn't above the law.

As a member of that elite I also lost a great amount of faith in the system when I discovered that the rules also apply to me. Rules are great, but not when they are enforced to get you in trouble.

I do so agree. In Graham Greene's novel, "The Comedians", set in Haiti, the hero says to the Tontons Macoute captain,"I suppose that you will torture us now?"

To which the captain replies, "No, you are not of the torturable classes."

I think the captain understood about people of a certain status.
