Homiletics Helps Heal Heretics -

In my homiletics class, we are recording a cassette to send in to the professor in which we describe the importance of proper pulpitry and how the preacher can demonstrate the healing power of Christ while reaching the sinner. I would like to present a small portion of my submission.
The Lord Jesus Christ is the Word! Hallelujah! In the book of John, we find this informative information: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Glory! This little passage of scripture tells us so much! Yea! Glory! Hallelujah! Praise Him! Glory! Glory! Glory! What does it tell us, friends? First it tells us that there was a beginning. A Start! A happening that happened before anything else. An event that was before other events. And who was there?
This precious verse informs us that the WORD was there. OH PRAISE THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, ISAAC, and JACOB! Shout His Name on High! But it wasn't just any word. No, this was THE Word! It wasn't the word "sure." It wasn't "hydroponics." It was THE Word! And the WORD was with someone. Who? Conan? Letterman? Billy Graham? NO! NO!! NO!!!
It was the living, breathing, all knowing and all powerful GOD of the Universe!!!!!!! You know, friends, sometimes when we open a pack of potato chips, we are disappointed to find out how much of the bag is actually air. We find ourselves distraught when we watch a program that purports to be an hour in length and we see that over twenty minutes of it is lost to commercial breaks. IN THE BEGINNING, we didn't have those issues to worry about. NO!!! But we know beyond any doubts that The Word was there in the beginning, and the word was WITH GOD, and the WORD was GOD!
Think about that, beloved, for just a moment. Here are the facts:
1. The beginning began.
2. The WORD started the beginning.
3. GOD started the beginning with the WORD.
4. The God starting the beginning was the WORD and the WORD was GOD.
It's all so simple. But we try to make it hard. We as humans try to make everything hard. We invented statistics to make it hard to get a doctorate. We invented computerized stuff so that only those who know about computers and computerization can fix things. Why? Why did we need a word processor when we had typewriters? Why do we need food processors when we have hands and forks and spoons? Surely Jesus sits in His Heaven and says, Father, why do they make it so hard?
But we don't have to question the beginning. God made it simple. He made it so we could understand. He made it HIMSELF so that it would be done correctly! HALLELUJAH! Shout GLORY! PRAISE HIS NAME!
In closing, it is clear that the LORD has blessed me with knowledge of things that I know. It is my prayer that this message has touched the very depths of your being and that you are now a better person from having heard the WORD. You have heard the WORD, and the WORD was WITH GOD at the beginning, and the WORD WAS GOD! This means that at the beginning of this message, GOD WAS THERE! GLORY! Oh, everyone hold your Bible up high and wave it at Jesus! It is HIM! HE IS THE WORD! It is GOD! GOD is THE WORD!
May Jesus richly bless one and all. Hallelujah!
Proverbs 21:31 KJV 1611:
“The horse is prepared against the day of battell: but safetie is of the Lord.”
Lord, may I serve my equine brothers and sisters just as I do my fellow man. Amen and Amen
