Brother Basher, I gave a sermon on this very subject just a few months ago. Would you believe there were people in my very congregation who thought it was a GOOD thing to help an old lady across the street simply because she needed help?
One even thought that "charity begins at home"! Why no!
Charity, and all good deeds, must be done in service to God, or as you have so succinctly pointed out, they are rebellion, and they are also self-serving.
"Oh,
I would have felt guilty if I didn't help."
"Helping others makes
ME feel good."
Where are these people concerned about what
GOD wants? How
GOD feels? No, it's all selfish
ME ME ME!
"Christmas Spirit", indeed!
