He did not. You liebrals will believe anything. He was inspired by Catcher in the Rye but he shot John Lennon because Mr. "imagine no possessions" and "all you need is love" was a deep seated capitalist. Mark Chapman actually started out as a Lennon fan, but became disillusioned when he found out how much of a liar Lennon was. Lennon was worth approximately $150 million US, he left the UK because he didn't want to pay socialist taxes anymore.
