Down syndrome, or Down's syndrome, trisomy 21, is a chromosomal condition caused by the presence of all or part of an extra 21st chromosome. It is named after John Langdon Down, the British physician who described the syndrome in 1866. The condition was clinically described earlier in the 19th century by Jean Etienne Dominique Esquirol in 1838 and Edouard Seguin in 1844. [1] Down syndrome was identified as a chromosome 21 trisomy by Dr. Jérôme Lejeune in 1959. Down syndrome in a fetus can be identified through chorionic villus sampling or amniocentesis during pregnancy, or in a baby at birth.
Down syndrome is a chromosomal condition characterized by the presence of an extra copy of genetic material on the 21st chromosome, either in whole ( trisomy 21) or part (such as due to translocations). The effects and extent of the extra copy vary greatly among people, depending on genetic history, and pure chance. The incidence of Down syndrome is estimated at 1 per 733 births, although it is statistically more common with older parents due to increased mutagenic exposures upon some older parents' reproductive cells. Other factors may also play a role. Down syndrome occurs in all human populations, and analogous effects have been found in other species such as chimpanzees [2] and mice.

CHOOSE to sin = CHOOSE to be smote by God (Deuteronomy 28:22). Someone smote with retardedness has clearly angered God.

Perhaps you'd like to actually read the original post that kicked off this thread before asking any other stupid questions.

It stands to reason that if God hates retardeds, they must have done something wrong. And God, as I have already pointed out, states clearly in His word that the handicapped are inferior to other people. See Leviticus 21, below:
Quote:
16And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 17Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.
18For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous,
19Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded,
20Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;
21No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.

A parent (sometimes a grandparent) can go against Gods wishes and greatly upset Him. As a punishment, he forces these retards on the parents, giving them a lifetime of burden and shame.
That is the choice, to follow life as God intended or to wrong Him.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Reality doesn't lie (retards do exist). Neither does the Bible.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

I actually felt my IQ drop as read this giant piece of fiction. This "message" is about as accurate as "Twilight". Down Syndrome is a genetic disorder. It is not God's punishment. That ended when Jesus died for you.

So all of God's punishments ended when Christ died? Can you back that up with Scripture? Also, if you're right, what does this passage from the Epistles mean?
James 5:14-16: Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Did you actually read that, or type or with your eyes closed? "Is any among you SICK?" Not mentally retarded. "Let them pray over you... prayer of the faith shall save the sick." Can you point out to where in this verse it says "God is punishing people by giving them a mental and physical disability"? Thank you.
