Wedding Reception Menu Ideas for the Richards! -
06-30-2009, 04:53 AM
It has come to my attention that both Brother Don and Sister Victory are feeling a little overwhelmed at planning the menu for the reception. I would like your suggestions here. Then we will present them in a few days to the happy bride and groom.
I'm thinking quantity is important to them. Perhaps an entire roasted pig would be in order. I know all the Ladies of Landover are bringing a homemade dessert. We need to concentrate on side dishes. I think I can make an entire bathtub of my famous potato salad (the one that I include cucumber and bacon in).
What side dish can any of you bring? Please make your mind up quickly as the wedding is almost here!

I think several folks should bring green bean casserole.

What a nice suggestion. I think 10-12 lbs of it will do (10 of it just for the wedding party). Are you volunteering?

Well being that I'm St. Louis right now, I think we could pick up about 30-40 lbs or so of world-famous St. Louis BBQ pork ribs! The freezer on the RV is more than spacious enough to accomodate all this food! Why just tonight I had the most delicious, sweetest, tender, mouth-watering, succulent ribs at my life here at Roper's Ribs!
They are owned by a delightful and pleasant Negro couple, Carl and Denise Roper (seen below) and I will be sure to order enough for Officer Don and Sister Victory (as well as for any guests).
"Our great hickory smoked barbeque taste draws customers from California, Texas, and New York – literally throughout the United States and beyond its borders. We invest a great deal of time and effort in preparing our barbeque. Our meats are hand rubbed with our own special blend of spices and slowly smoked for 12 hours with hickory wood to create an exquisite flavor. We are known for our Baby Back Ribs, ST Louis Ribs, Pulled Pork, Rib Tips, Beef Brisket and Chicken. We are committed to serving the “Best BBQ in the Universe!”
Mmmm mmm good! Everyone at the wedding reception is going to love these ribs, if they can get to what is left after Brother Don and Sister Vic are done with them!
PS - Should I order 50 lbs to be on the safe side? I want to make sure the entire guest list is able to have some of these ribs.

Awwwww! That is soooo sweet and thoughtful of you! Do you think you could fit 80 lbs in your RV? I think we need at least 30-40 lbs for the happy couple and the wedding party and the rest for the guests. (I've seen them chow down in person. I took them to a congradulatory lunch at the Golden Corral - All You Can Eat Buffet and was shocked at awed at the amount they could put away. They cleared all the meat stations of meat in one sitting. You shoulda seen the look on the manager's face when they went back for more).

Please make sure when the invitations are printed that you spell the lucky couple's name right. The last name is Richards, not Richard. Some people are very particular about that.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

Thank you for pointing that out. I think I will make you in charge of the printed menu, seating assignments and guest list.

This is so exciting!
I've talked to the ladies who will be staying here at the Monthly Visitor that week, and each and every one (except one stuck-up, uppity so-and-so not to be named, who sits in the Turret Room all by herself the whole time she's here every month, because she's too GOOD for the rest of us) is willing to pitch in and bake a total of twenty Monthly Visitor Cherry Pies!!
Note: Since the ladies will be unclean, they always wear gloves when working in the kitchen. This way, they do not come into contact with any of the ingredients or the final product.

Uh...I'm uh....allergic, yea, I'm allergic to Cherries! I am so sorry, Sister Jenny, I'm just dying to try some of the cherry pies that you and your friends from the Monthly Visitor are making, but I can't afford to have the upset stomach, vomiting, and explosive diarrhea.
I've been permanently banned from gas station restrooms after indulging myself in cherries. Sorry.
SPACESHIP JESUS appeared to me in Astronaut form when I was staying in a motel in 1974. He then told me the TRUTH about our world and what illusions the SATANIC ALLIANCE uses to control us! To this day, I still receive SPACESHIP RADIO SIGNALS INTO MY BRAIN. Absolve yourself of your limited Matrix existence.

No cherry pie for me either.
But I could bring over a couple of dozen of these:
This is medovnik, or a honey cake. It is delicious.

5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled
10:21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

I hope the ribs will be 'wet' dry ribs are only good for eating while driving.
I sure hope there will be lots of fried food on the menu. I bet Tyeisha X would have a problem with that. She'd (assuming she really is a she) probably want 'organic Tofu' crap. But since she will not be at the party, it will not be an issue.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Well, with all these objections to the cherry pies, I've talked to the ladies and they've agreed that half of the pies will instead be the Monthly Visitor's famous Ann Coulter Adam's Apple Pie!
Each pie starts with the freshest baking apples, peeled and cored, and mixed with sugar and butter and spices, a little lemon rind, a single diced quince, and golden raisins. The filling is placed in a graham cracker crust, topped with crushed graham crackers and baked. Then we add the special Creme Brulee caramelized sugar topping and dust with cinnamon!
Of course, if Sister Victory wants some "regular" apple pies, we can do that, too. Whatever will please the blushing bride the most!

I could bring something along to but I am afraid it would just go to waste. I could bring some traditional British fayre, sauage rolls always go down well

I believe these fine American folk refer to sausage rolls as "franks in jackets". The frank being a reference to the German frankfurter sausage or “wurst”. Whether that is common across the states, I don't know. I know the American members of my unit (friends and colleagues all, and not a finer group of men to watch your back) refer to them as such.
I would like to wish the happy couple every happiness for the future, may their children be healthy and their life together rewarding and happy. God Bless.

We call those "Pigs in a blanket". I know Pastor Zeke is fond of the foot longs you get at ball parks which are the same thing only much bigger and juicier.

I don't know if it was stated, but you are invited to the wedding, however you are not allowed to bring any food or handle any food. You've already poisoned your last two husbands, let's not wipe out half of the Landover congregation.
Now, moving on, let's not forget our beloved dogs! I don't think I've ever been to a wedding or a reception where dogs weren't present. Now, we can't give them people food because we risk giving our canine companions stomach ailments, so this is why I've ordered a SPECIAL TREAT for our pooch partners: Bully Sticks!
Bully Sticks are 100% all natural dog treats, 100% digestible and low in fat. Bully Sticks are better for your dog than rawhide chews. Bully Sticks are an excellent way to reduce tartar build up. Bully Sticks are also a great way to satisfy your dogs desire to chew!
Bully Sticks are 100% Bull penises, Not a tendon, and not processed meat strips. Bully Sticks are dried, lightly smoked or natural flavor and delivered to your door. We never try to hide what they are by giving them little cute names.
