Of course, there are no Oriental families in Freehold, Iowa, the home of our church, but if one happens to wander in off the highway, holding your eyes in a slanted position and singing this rhyme out makes a GREAT icebreaker.

Nevertheless, the song doesn't really teach our children about the different Oriental sub-species of humanity and why God made them. For example, it doesn't explain that Filipinos generally have the dirtiest knees of all of the yellow peoples, with the Japanese having the cleanest and the Chinese somewhere in between. Or that Chinese people (along with Indians) have value because somebody has to do all that boring math and there just aren't enough Jews to go around.

That's why I recommend having your children read this article from Life magazine. It's a classic from 1941 that teaches about the differences between Chinamen and Nips in a practical, down to Earth way. Plus, it's been approved by CHRIST, the Christian Homeschooling Revised Instructional STandards committee, so you know it's trustworthy!

It takes the kind of study and scholarship we do here at Landover Baptist to understand the variety of races in the world. We always need to remember the basics, God created the world and put different races on different continents. He never anticipated free will would have them roaming all over the place. Certainly, God did not want mixed race marriages.

There is a children's Sunday School song that was popular when I was a child. It had a confusing message so it is now banned at Landover Baptist. The song went:

Red and yellow, black and white,
All are precious in his sight,
Jesus loves the little children of the world.

The word "precious" is the key to understanding this song. Slaves were "precious" one could say because if you wanted one you had to pay. The minimum wage Chinese chef who toils over a wok and gets burned regularly is "precious" because he cranks out cheap Chinese food.

White children are precious in the legitimate use of the word. But, this is all too intellectual for most people to understand so the song had to be dropped.

Gooks do provide a good clean shirt, though often too much starch. It is just the way they are. It also seems they are good at keeping the Feral cat population down.


At my bedside, I have a well worn journal containing a list of things and people I pray for. Several hundred pages with probably 100 items on a page. I try to do 1/2 a page every day, praying for the unworthy. I am sure slants are in there. So there is that.


I do know, decent people would be lost without the other races. Cooking, cleaning, lawn mowing, septic pumping - you know, all those little jobs for trained creatures. I am intrigued how they just appear and scurry about thinking they have real value.


I thank God He chose me and made me White. More proof of His immeasurable magnificence.

Perhaps I had a sheltered upbringing - I never saw anyone* of another "race" until I went to Africa. Happily I was young enough not to have become set in my thinking so could understand what God was explaining in The Bible. At this stage I'd read it through several times so knew all about Noah and how rotten everyone had become, necessitating God's drowning them. Although I was full of questions about this topic – such as, if wine was non-alcoholic back then how come Noah got drunk? Someone had suggested that Christ's disciples drank non-alcoholic wine too but I'd read about:

Acts 2:11-16 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine. But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: for these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel

Peter did not say, "these are not drunken because we never drink alcoholic wine," but "these are not drunken because it's too early for the bars to be open!" Similarly at Cana when the party ran out of wine, Jesus produced some pretty good stuff by all accounts – surprising mine host:

John 2:7-10 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, and saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

NOAH

We can be fairly certain that Noah had consumed wine then and not eaten toadstools. Although he could have done both I suppose. There is a Russian drink like that apparently. He was one of eight souls spared by God because Noah was righteous† and although all everyone today is descended from Mr & Mrs Noah, their three sons also produced children whose attitudes left much to be desired. One in particular, Ham, disgraced himself utterly by observing his father in the nude – Noah had got tanked and removed his clothes.

Clearly there must be a price to pay. Not by Ham, since God had promised to bless him as part of the covenant‡ He'd made with Noah. The Bible explains how the son (Canaan) who'd in fact been absent during the genital viewing (done by his father) experienced the full justice required by such a terrible thing. Perhaps by human standards this is difficult to comprehend. But limited, earthly, standards are not at work here.

GOD'S STANDARD

Genesis 9:24-27 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son [Ham] had done unto him. And he said, Cursed be Canaan [Ham's son] a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant. God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

God blessed Noah and his sons prospered. Remember that Noah here is the sole living human with a direct promise from God so his words carry the greatest possible authority, second only to God Himself – and God's blessing is at work throughout. Noah's words have impact! The outcome brought down by Ham upon his son due to inappropriate ogling has the force of an edict siphoned down a conduit directly from God. The Bible gives no expiry date, the edict never goes stale. It remains active today. Exactly which population groups are blasted should be easy to determine, especially in the light of one particular expression: a servant of servants shall he be.

Anyone might have servants; an accountant perhaps or a firm of lawyers, sometimes a butler or simply a housemaid who comes in twice a week. Among the servants themselves however, there's an even lower caste. Those who are servants to them. In explaining how God has ordered the world He made that is an important distinction which, without The Bible, is very unlikely to occur to anyone. So many people choose to reject The Bible and establish some other standard, one they think is better. But unless taught about the other races, correctly, as The Bible explains, how can anyone say whether it's better or not? After all, once some other standard gets established it could reject anything – even the need for Christ.

* there was a golliwog promoting some product in a department store when I was about 4 but I'm pretty sure he was on stilts and not a real golly

Fake news! You should be ashamed of yourself for misquoting Brother WWJDnow so atrociously (Proverbs 19:5). That's not even close to what he said, and he is most certainly NOT a racist, because the Lord abhors racism and we do what the Bible says (Galatians 3:28). A racist would claim that Asians are all the same, because they all look alike. Intelligent, non-racist people like WWJDnow and myself know that, while Asians all do look pretty much identical, there are multiple different kinds, from tropical gooks in Vietnam and Thailand to communist Chinks to island orientals in the Philippines and Indonesia to godless Japs to mountain celestials in Tibet and Nepal to igloo-dwelling eskimos in Siberia. What they all have in common is that they are God-mocking heathens whose souls are in dire need of rescue. Education about their diverse cultures such as that provided in this thread is a necessary prerequisite for missionary work, because you can't stamp out and erase said cultures if you don't know what you're looking for.

I was disappointed he didn't follow up the Scripture references I took the trouble to include. Following the linked passages and reading around the verse for context helps us to see the very process of degeneration at work.

From the time of Adam, people had degenerated quite a lot. God killed everyone off and started again with Noah, as is well known, but also worth remembering is that there were sons with wives of their own. For the degeneration to resume, as it did with Ham, and for his progeny to (or at least those through Canaan) to finish up at the bottom of the pile in so short a space of time suggests that his and Shem and Japeth's wives must have contributed something to the mix.

Articulate humans in communion with God have preserved the ideal sufficiently to show what Adam must have been like. A third beginning comes with Christ, a second Adam rather than a second Noah, when once again everyone following degenerate belief systems will be destroyed. Some of them don't even have writing any more! The world today only makes sense when you read The Bible and understand what God is teaching us. For that you need to be able to read (or have someone read it to you) and to understand the words God uses. He was able to communicate effectively with Adam, Noah, Moses but not everyone is like that.

The Bible explains why. Sure, there are disbelievers who have completely different ideas, virtually the opposite of what God teaches. Ask them for evidence. Do their replies make sense? Can they be verified? When it comes to The Bible though, the evidence is overwhelming.
