I really don't get these wierdos, Pastor. Would they allow their children to watch hardcore pornography and pedophilia? NO. Would they allow their children to watch beastiality or violent rape movies? NO. Would they allow their children to watch snuff movies or animal torture and castration videos? NO. Would they allow their children to watch seedy homosexual videos, where naked gay men shit all over each other and eat it? NO. Yet somehow they think Harry Potter is acceptable? These people are lunatics.

Well the truth is, atheists DO allow their children to watch all that filth. They see nothing wrong with allowing children to watch gay porn and such. Since they don't believe in God, they have no morality at all.
Unbelievable, isn't it!
Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:
Hypocrites (Matthew 24:51), The Unforgiving (Mark 11:26), Homosexuals (Romans 1:26, 27), Fornicators (Romans 1:29), The Wicked (Romans 1:29), The Covetous (Romans 1:29), The Malicious (Romans 1:29), The Envious (Romans 1:29), Murderers (Romans 1:29), The Deceitful (Romans 1:29), Backbiters (Romans 1:30), Haters of God (Romans 1:30), The Despiteful (Romans 1:30), The Proud (Romans 1:30), Boasters (Romans 1:30), Inventors of evil (Romans 1:30), Disobedient to parents (Romans 1:30), Covenant breakers (Romans 1:31), The Unmerciful (Romans 1:31), The Implacable (Romans 1:31), The Unrighteous (1Corinthians 6:9), Idolaters (1Corinthians 6:9), Adulterers (1Corinthians 6:9), The Effeminate (1Corinthians 6:9), Thieves (1Corinthians 6:10), Drunkards (1Corinthians 6:10), Reviler (1Corinthians 6:10), Extortioners (1Corinthians 6:10), The Fearful (Revelation 21:8), The Unbelieving (Revelation 21:8), The Abominable (Revelation 21:8), Whoremongers (Revelation 21:8), Sorcerers (Revelation 21:8), All Liars (Revelation 21:8)

Re: 12 reasons Harry Potter should be banned -
12-25-2009, 11:55 PM
I believe that Jesus is my Lord and Savior. He is my best friend, and has saved me from death.
I also believe that Harry Potter is a good book.
All that is said above is being taken out of context. yes, God did say not to participate in witchcraft, but reading about a teenage wizard isn't going against God. It is just a book.
To me, and coutless other readers, the Harry Potter books are that of love and acceptance. Harry Potter himself grew up without love, with an Aunt and Uncle who couldn't stand him, but when he went to school he found love with his friends. And the whole plot of Harry Potter is this: Love triumphs over evil and death. is that not Jesus' story? Jesus' love triumphed over our death, and over Satan's evil. It is only with his love that we can live. it was because of Lily Potter (Harry's mother) that Harry lived when a dark wizard tried to kill him. She loved him so much, that her magic (yes, the dreaded 'm' word) allowed her baby to live. This, in a way I believe, translates to Jesus' love. Jesus would have died for only me. Or only you. He would have died that painful death even if it had only saved one person. And this is what Lily Potter did.
I am not trying to shove what I believe down anyone's throat. I simply believe that there is nothing wrong with reading Harry POtter. Just because you read about witches and wizards, doesn't mean I'm going to go out and become a Wicca.
I recommend to all of you (Christian and non-Christian alike) read the book *SATANIC BOOK TITLE DELETED*. Mr. Granger himself is a conservative Christina, and di much research before letting his children read the Harry Potter series. Here are two quotes from his book that I find interesting:
"What did take me aback was finding out that many segments of the Chrisitian community hated the books. As a Christian daddy, I understood why parents and pastors would be cautious about books involving magic, but having read the books, I had a hard time finding anything but delight in them. Christians, of all people, should be celebrating the Harry Potter novels and be attended Potter mania."
"Because the Harry Potter books serve this purpose, they are excellent vehicles for parents wanting to share the Christian message of love's victory over death, of our relationship to God the Father through Christ, and even Christ's two natures in a single existence. Based on our reading of Harry POtter, I have had conversations with my children about heaven and hell, the work of the devil in the world, and our hope in Christ."
As for themes of sexuality, there are none in the books. Yes, J.K. Rowling did admit that she imagined Headmaster Albus Dumbledore was gay. This is after all the books were released. She actually had to tell us, because there are not hints of his sexuality in the books at all. And being gay doesn't make you a child molester, by the way. I doubt that he had any thoughts of this kind for his students. And guess what - he is a real character. Are you so offended that a real character is gay? I for one do not agree with homosexuality, but I don't let something said once effect my enjoyment of the books.
I feel like it is the opinions like the ones stated above that give Christians a bad name. It is this arrogance and hard-headedness that turn people away from Christ everyday. And also, I would like to point out that the pictures above, about the children dressed in Harry Potter garb and preforming some satanic ritual is true religion, poking fun at how uptight Christians get. It is not a true picture.
I suppose I can say no more on the subject at the moment. If you still believe that Harry Potter is evil, I guess that is your place, but as a Christian, I do not think it is corrupting me and my relationship with Jesus. And so, I leave you with this:
"The last enemy to be destroyed is death." 1 Corinthians 15:26 and also on page 328 of the U.S. edition of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. This is in refreence to the graves of Harry's parents. It is their epitaph and refers to them 'living beyond death'.
Thank you.

No, the KJV1611 Bible is a good book. The one you mention is part of Satan's slippery slope.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

I accept Jesus Christ as my lord and savior and I have grown up in a good Christain family.
But I've read Harry Potter and I don't believe in witchcraft or magic. I read them for entertainment.
You should really be bashing on the Twilight series.

If you like to listen to the Devil preach instead of a Pastor, how can you have the audacity to claim to of accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior. I notice yo do not call yourself a Christian also. And on His special day too. Wow!

Bashing? We do not 'bash' as you so eloquently put it, anything. We report on events of world wide importance ensuring all True Christians are kept abreast of media that and pervert peoples minds.

Well considering I am very active in my church I am a Christain.
The Pastor from my church is also a family friend, and he had nothing to say about Harry Potter.
What a coincidence, I'm actually studying in England right now. So I'm sorry in advance if I use British slang.

Jesus' love triumphs for those who accept Him, the rest are condemned to eternal torture; I don't think this happens in Harry Potter. Harry Potter does not seem to die temporarily, neither does he promise eternal life. He also gets involved with some Chink girl and Jesus would never do that.
I think you are clutching at straws to try and justify your involvement in witchcraft.

[QUOTE=Ezekiel Bathfire;435399]I wonder what you did for Him to put you in danger of death in the first place?
We all are put into the danger of death because we were born into sin. You have been put into danger of death - that is what I mean.
And also. You are a very racist person. Yeah, Harry was involved with a 'chink girl' as you so eloquently put it - it was his first kiss. Nothing more.
I guess posting on this site was completely useless. I can see that all of you are so blinded that you'll never see anyone's opinion but your own. But guess what? I really don't care what you say. I know I love God, and he loves me. And I know he loves you. It doesn't matter if we read a book about wizards are not! If we believe in Jesus and that he died for our sins and saved us from death, then we're saved. I doubt that God will turn us away at Heaven's gates because we read a book about a boy wizard. And if so, Heaven is sure to be a pretty empty place.

What are you talking about? Twilight is an excellent series for young girls! I wrote a post about it on here:
http://www.landoverbaptist.net/showthread.php?t=33046
Quote:
Now, I've heard some say that the "Twilight" books by Stephanie Meyer are just another series of Satanic, blasphemous literature like "Harry Potter" or "the Chronicles of Narnia". However, while investigating this new phenomenon, I found it may not be all that bad. Sure, it deals with dark themes, and yes, it is written by a Godless Mormon, but I have found that the book contains lots of great messages for young girls. I think fathers out there should let their daughters read "Twilight" or watch the movies. (I don't think letting your sons do it is advisable, though, unless you want to end up paying huge bills for a conversion therapist ten years on). Mainly, it is because unlike Hermione Granger or Lucy Pevensie, this book is NOT populated by rabid feminazis.
-The series is a metaphor for keeping abstinent before marriage. It helps teach young girls that if they give it away before they have a ring on their finger, they WILL die (because God will strike them down to hell).
-Bella Swan, the series protagonist, is constantly falling into danger, and needs to be rescued by her boyfriend. This sets a very good example for girls, a message not given enough by today's media - women are essentially helpless, and they simply CANNOT make it through the world unless they have a man there to take care of them.
-For another thing, Bella Swan has no life or personality outside of her boyfriend. Truly, she is an example for how a Christian wife should behave! Every thought she has is of him. She shows very little interest to anything outside of him, doesn't seem to have any hobbies or career goals or friends. Exactly how a woman she behave once she has found the right man for her. And when he is not around, she does not use the opportunity to look for independence her sex is not supposed to have, but instead reclines from society and goes into depression. Meyer should be applauded for this wonderful character.
-Bella craves to die and be reborn as an immortal being. Just like every true Christian woman should live out their lives here on Earth, miserable, and waiting for the sweet release of death so they can be reborn in God's heavenly kingdom (of course Twilight isn't about going to heaven, but it's just fantasy after all).
-Bella constantly thinks to herself how wonderful and perfect her boyfriend is, while simultaneously thinking to herself how lowly, stupid, and ugly she is. She is very indecisive and weak-minded, and depends upon her boyfriend, or her werewolf friend, Jacob, to make decisions for her. AMEN!
(note: Edward, the psychic, is unable to read only Bella's mind. Personally, I believe this is a sign that Bella is the perfect woman - she doesn't think at all!)
-Edward is about 100 years older than Bella, but they still make a good couple. A good way to teach girls that they don't have to get married with someone their own age, but perhaps take their father's advice and marry a friend of his in need of a partner.
-Once Edward and Bella get married in the last book (once Bella has become a vampire), it describes the aftermath of their wedding night - the headboard is in ruins, she's covered in bruises, but she hides him so he won't feel guilty. And Bella is top of the world. How romantic! So much better than some of the trash out there, teaching our children to be sick perverts who have sex before marriage!
-Edward is the perfect gentleman, teaching our girls the kind of men they should go after. He is very kind, and protective of her. He follows her around a lot, and often sneaks into her bedroom at night to watch her sleep. He also manages to suppress his constant desire to kill her (most of the time).
-Bella models to young women how they should act around their men - she has to tiptoe around Edward, and Jacob, because at any moment they can turn into bloodthirsty monsters and shred her to pieces. For this reason she must be very nice to them to make sure she doesn't set their tempers off.

You are right, Heaven IS a pretty empty place:
Matthew 7: 13Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
And just saying you believe in Jesus isn't enough if you are living like the devil:
Matthew 7: 21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

No, not a pagan... you are simply an unsaved idiot.
Joshua 24:15
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?" James 4:11-12. So by judging us, you are saying that you are the judge instead of God. Which is both wrong and against the Bible.
I have read the Harry Potter series and am a huge fan. I am also a Christian. I go to church every day and am a Sunday School teacher. No, I don't preach to the kids about Harry Potter. I tell them about how Jesus loves them and that he came and died for them. In my free time though, I read the Harry Potter series and am even a user on a fan site. No one on this fan site worships Harry Potter as a "savior". They are just fans of the series. How many of you have even read the series, to know what it is about? If you are just judging it by it's cover, but not by what's inside, I feel that isn't really fair.

Pastor Zeke did not speak "against [...] brothers" He spoke against your willful disregard of God's Law. The rest of your point therefore fails miserably.

This is the commonest mistake amongst heathens and those who have never read a bible in their life. You have to know the answer to the question, "Who is my neighbor?" Throughout the Bible, which is God's Word, a "neighbor" is a fellow Christian. A Christian is someone who accepts "The Word". The Word is God.
This means you accept all that God says - you do not. You are arguing against God.

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Please read that several times, you have no idea whatsoever what being a Christian means. I can say that you are merely deluded and have created a little god whom you worship in your own mind that resembles you yourself.

I don't have a disregard for God. I do not practice sorcery nor do I ever intend to.
Also, I am your neighbor since I am a Christian. I do have faith and believe in Jesus. I did know the part in the Bible about neighbor's being fellow Christians and that's why the scripture verse was relevant. I also do know what being a Christian means. I am baptized, worship God every Sunday, love him, and have faith in him. I know it means believing that Jesus died and rose again for my sins, is one with the Father and Holy Spirit, and that he loves me even though I sin. "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." Ephesians 2:8-9
The kids do know about going to Hell. Therefore, I'm not lying to them.
No where does it say in the Bible that life is fair. I know that.
