It will be hard to compete with Sister Thumper’s pie. With the help of Mistress Cookie though, my pie will be up there with the best of Landover’s pies.

Thank you sister and God Bless you. I look forward to more of the best pie in Landover. I'm sure it'll be yours for a fifth - please excuse my earlier mistake.

Sister Thumper, do you have any advice for me on how to get even close to the quality of your pie. I would love to learn from the best.

There's just one secret to Sister Thumper's pies. She fills each pie to overflowing with True Christian™ love ... That, and unfortunate gun-cleaning accidents seem to befall her competition each year, so be careful.

It would be sheer folly to try to compete with Thumper's pie...it's always had Pastor Zeke's Personal Seal of Approval. (I'm not saying that has anything at all to do with it winning so often.)
I've found that how your pie looks is practically as important as how it tastes. Some of our menfolk have even claimed "All pies taste the same in the dark", so use any visual advantage you can muster.
Perhaps try a latice crust? It can be so pretty and inviting when the filling is tantalizingly peeking out through the warm slits.

The Brazilian Pie does sound heavenly indeed
Though my new specialty (with Sister Thumper's advice, God bless her!) is a decadent Peach Cobbler.

She gave me the same recipe when I first came here.
Believe me, she just doesn't want you entering the pie competition.

Harvest time pie
Filling
2 granny smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
2 pippin apples, peeled, cored and sliced
2 Bartlett pears, peeled, cored and sliced
1/8 c. raisins
1/8 c. dried cranberries
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 sprinkle nutmeg
1 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. flour
Crust
2 cups all-purpose flour
I teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
6 tablespoons butter
6 tablespoons shortening
6 to 8 tablespoons ice water
Prepare the crust first, place bottom crust in pie pan, then refrigerate
Combine filling ingredients and pour them into the pie pan
Cover with second crust, crimping the edges; add cross slit in the middle
Cover edges of crust with aluminum foil to prevent burning
Bake at 400 degrees(preheated oven) for 50-60 mins.
I don't believe that I make the best pies, but this one is a favorite.

Quick and Easy berry cream pie
Instant jello pudding(Fr*nch Vanilla) [Correction: American Vanilla see post below]
2 cups half and half
1 cup whatever berries God sees fit to allow you to use
premade graham cracker crust
1 sm. container heavy whipping cream
1 tsp of raw sugar
1 vanilla bean, inside scraped out
Blend together half and half and pudding packet. Gently fold in cleaned and dried berries. Pour into crust and refrigerate.
Combine vanilla, sugar and whipping cream. Whip until it forms soft peaks and spread over filled pie crust. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
Since I am new, if there is anything improper about this recipe, please let me know so I may delete it.

I realized French Vanilla pudding is forbidden, so if you may edit it to good and righteous American Vanilla, I would be greatful. My apologies. I am a brand new Christian and am still learning much.

Pecan pie with chocolate cinnamon whipped cream
2 cups whipping cream
1 tsp. orange extract plus 1 pinch of orange zest
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, eyeball it in your palm
2 pinches chili powder or ground cayenne
1 (3-ounce) baking bar semisweet chocolate, chopped (recommended: Ghiradelli brand)
2 store bought pecan pies, serve warm or chilled, as you like
Directions
Whip cream, orange extract and zest, cinnamon and chili powder together until stiff peaks form. Melt chocolate in a medium bowl in microwave until smooth, check on it every 10 seconds over 45 seconds, cooking on high. Cool to the touch. Stir 1/4 of the whipped cream into the chocolate until totally combined then fold in the rest of the whipped cream in small batches. Cut pie, top with cream and serve immediately.
Is this recipe ok?
