BBC apologises for 'offensive' Gardeners' Question Time debate about plant called 'black man's willy'

For some it was nothing more than an innuendo-laden piece of Carry On style humour. But for others it was deeply offensive racial stereotyping.

Yesterday the BBC made an embarrassing apology after a debate about a plant known as a "black man's willy" aired on Gardeners' Question Time.
A caller on the Radio 4 show asked advice on the Rhodochiton Volubilis, which he said was "commonly known as the BMW, the black man's willy".
Panellists were heard giggling their way through a discussion about the plant, after it was broadcast from Chilcompton Gardening Club in Somerset.
But some listeners failed to see the funny side complaining of racist stereotyping and vulgarity by the broadcaster, adding it was unsuitable for children.
Now the corporation has sparked claims it has pandered to the "politically correct brigade" by apologising.
They say the phrase is a commonly known term for the plant, due to its appearance, and therefore is acceptable to use.
Conservative MP Philip Davies, who sits on the culture, media and sport select committee, has hit out at the BBC's decision to apologise.
He said: "I suspect the people who've complained are probably white, middle-class, sandal-wearing do-gooders with too much time on their hands.
"There are far too many people that are far too easily offended by things that are not intended to upset or are in fact not offensive.

Well on the one hand I did not appreciate them lauding over the willy bit as I thought it quite rude and we did discuss it later over tea as you know...on the other hand I thought the objections were silly.
Britons have far too much time on their hands and what are they doing listening to gardening shows when they ought to be looking after children and getting the dinner ready for their hard working husbands?

It's not the racial stereotyping I'm offended by, it's more that the programme in question encouraged its listeners to kneel down into their garden and gently slide their tongue over the tip of the Rhodochiton Volubilis before moving on to take the whole plant in their mouth and throat. Jesus does not approve.

The only "Willy" I know of is that old hobo singer Boxcars Willy that my grandfather hated with a passion. It seems they had some sort of a run-in in Des Moines once and.....well that's another story.

On another note, I have always gotten the willies from listening to the nigras of England speak. Did you know that they have learned to mimic your British accent with alarming accuracy? I'm surprised because very few of the coons in Godly America can talk normal. That kind of trickery makes me have bad dreams late at night....

Yes, but sounding like a British person is hardly talking normal is it? The son of Ham's accursed throat is perfectly formed for vomiting forth the kind of guttural filth the English are famed for. Not to mention that 99% of drunk British kids are so drug-addled they think they're some kind of American negro, and speak and behave accordingly. Why, in some parts even the Anglo-Jews are so confused they think they're nigras. Admittedly, they both live in ghettoes, but the similarity ends there, one would think.

Willie Nelson Fears Election Could Be Cancelled

Stoned jailbird and country music street performer Willie Nelson fears the 2008 presidential election could be cancelled due to a national state of emergency and that George W. Bush could occupy the White House for another decade.

"It's a long time until election day and some sort of national crisis could put off the elections and we could have George in there ten years longer," Nelson told the Alex Jones Show, in a characteristic paranoid run-on rant today.

Asked how the American people should respond in the event of the presidential election being cancelled or postponed, Nelson betrayed his Communist sympathies, "I would hope that we'd be smarter than that and I would hope that we'd say no - we're throwing all you guys out and we're taking all the private property and starting over - you can stop the elections if you want to but you can't stop the People's Army."

Nelson has every reason to be concerned, especially considering that he claims President Bush's post-terror attack continuity of government plan is so shocking that even sitting members of Congress and Homeland Security officials are barred from viewing it. How Nelson knows of this plan is a mystery; it is likely he imagined it in a drug-induced haze.

In addition, legislation signed on May 9, 2007 declares that in the event of a "catastrophic event", the President can take total control over the government and the country, bypassing all other levels of government at the state, federal, local, territorial and tribal levels, and thus ensuring total unprecedented dictatorial power. It is possible that this mechanism will be used should Mike Huckabee fail to win the nomination, ensuring that Biblical law is instituted in the United States.

On the subject of the presidential race itself, Nelson said he licked Ron Paul, thinking he was a psychedelic toad, but that the final run off would be between McCain and Hillary or Obama.

"I was hoping that Hillary had changed her mind (on Communism), I was hoping Obama was all the way against the capitalist pigs - I don't know, maybe public opinion and less fluoride in the water can keep their minds where they need to be," concluded Nelson.

During the same explosive interview, Nelson went public with his doubts about the official 9/11 story, saying that he thought the twin towers were deliberately destroyed by people flying airplanes into them.
