. . . Not the city, the ship. It was shot down by the Japanese in 1945. The ship had been carrying parts of the atomic bomb or whatever. I don't remember most of the details because Robert Shaw didn't cover those in that scene from Jaws.
Some left-wing nutcases have suggested that using the bomb was an "act of white supremacy" because we threw the bomb at "Asians."
Wonder if he would have felt better if we had nuked Berlin?
There's a lot more to the story than I can relate here. I suggest you all research for yourselves. . . After all, it's not that hard to rent a movie.
