Alright first Iceland does have ice and nobody is denying it. Oh this is interesting to me. Can you explain how Icelanders thwarted would-be invaders by virtue of naming their land unfavorably? Did they have big signs along the coasts and watch as viking ships turned around in frustration? Did they use smoke signals across the Atlantic to warn the Europeans of this icy wasteland? Were North, Central, and South America first called Gold-And-Silver-And-Endless-Slaves Land? Perhaps that explains why the Americas were so thoroughly colonized by Europeans whereas Iceland was left alone.
