I just returned for a quick trip to Mitchell, South Dakota. The Mayor over there, Bobby Everson, invited me to see the latest Corn Palace Art display. He said if there are young people in Freehold who would like to be artists but refuse to paint nudes they are welcome in Mitchell.

The Corn Palace is unique in the entire world. It is a large building covered with ears of corn.

I'm here to say that if you want to see really creative abstract art, head to Mitchell. Each year they create new works so young people can learn how to make spectacular art from ears of corn. The Corn Palace will not tolerate any art that is sexually suggestive or obscene. It passes the Christian test of good art. Once a young person learns this skill he/she is off to the big cities and the big time art world.

I'd like to point out that art lovers on their way to Mitchell can stop off at nearby Strawberry Point, Iowa - a mere 2 hr drive or 4 hr + 5 minutes round trip. European modern artists think they're so clever with their cubism and blue periods but let's see them create something like THIS - 15ft tall and painted fiberglass.

Europe has been left behind in art. One of the early signs the Middle West in the U.S. was destined to dominate the art world was this pelican in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.

The Christ of the Ozarks is another pilgrimage site for Christian family day trips. Located outside of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, the 65.5 foot tall Jesus statue is the Godliest piece of monumental artwork in North America. Erected by True Christian™ Pastor Gerald L. K. Smith, the Christ of the Ozarks also stages a passion play on certain nights. I have visited with the Lukes clan a couple times and it didn't disappoint.

Mayor Brent Frazer told me a few years ago it is ten feet tall. To enter public art contests it needed to be the largest pelican in the U. S. You will not find a bigger one in the "art centers" of New York City or San Francisco.

My, my; these are some very lovely works of art, and I do thank you all for showing them to us. What I like most about them, is how they show the creative nature that the has given to so many people. It is my prayer that those artists will continue to use their talents wisely, to glorify Almighty .

The artwork in the photo below, from some remote area of Canada, also reminds me of and Creation. And, it really shows what we already know: that since created the first chicken, there is no need for the "what came first, the chicken or the egg?" debate.

Ugh that is not art at all. You're right to flag this one Sister Mitza. Everyone pay attention, this is not art. It's important you known the difference - just like with idols and false idols.

One wonders if this is a trend of some sort, dear Sister Basilissa. One time when I was visiting Agatha (my sister) in that bound Canada, she pointed out something similar to me. You shall see it here in this short video clip below. How on Earth did that truck get up there, at such a high position, and then to go crashing through the outer wall, but not falling to the ground below? And, why did they not remove it and repair the wall?

At least the concept of a truck or a car, (or even a shark) moving at high speed and crashing through a building fits in with the way Our Lord ordered the Universe.

But a carrot? Since when did Jesus look the other way and let giant root vegetables soar through the air? Let us not forget that the first farmer (and murderer), Cain, thought that he could earn God's favor with produce.

Genesis 4:3-5

And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

As we can see, a fat lot of good that did for Cain. Because The Lord wanted the actual fat. I believe our esteemed Brother Cranky Old Man once provided an excellent sermon on the very subject of God preferring meat to vegetables.

Returning to the subject at hand, whatever demon hand was responsible for casting a carrot through a brick building is not a force that I wish to see at work in my neighborhood. The literal elevation of a carrot is in direct opposition to Biblical codes of conduct. Now, if it were a burger being held aloft, that would be another consideration altogether.

As a motel owner, I think it would be fair to say that I'm something of an authority on fine art. A number of the rooms in the Blood of Christ Motel are blessed with Thomas Kinkade prints. Kinkade is a rare example of an artist who glorifies God in his works, as you can clearly see from the image below of my personal favorite, The Cross:



An important medium in the realm of fine arts is the velvet canvas. This is a art form, and Americana is its most frequent subject. Clowns and cowboys, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley, none of that Satanic garbage is represented on the walls of the Blood of Christ Motel. However, I do have two John Waynes, one Dale Earnhardt, and this masterpiece:



There is another form of art, though this is a lesser domestic art as practiced by women, not a fine art. My wife Doris and her friends enjoy knitting, crocheting, and all that other needle string crap when they're not cooking for their husbands or gossiping. I have to admit, those ladies can make a fine faith-based quilt. All of the beds in the Blood of Christ Motel are blessed with a hand-made comforter such as this:

Biden just dumped some of President Trump's members of the Commission on Fine Arts. My impression was we were making progress with Trump's people--they were getting ready to award some of these artists from Middle America.

Our work is cut out for us. We need to make know to the world the Mitchell Corn Palace and these other examples of fine art.

There seemed to be a problem with your picture, I hope you don't mind a smaller version (original linked, though) anyway, looking through some of this art and/or "art" there were two stand-out points. One is from Deuteronomy and concerns God's commandment not to make any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth. "Any" suggests that size is irrelevant, for example the Buddha was a human being, one who sat under a tree and discovered a demon, so a Buddha (statue) is a likeness of a thing that is in the earth beneath. Some of them are enormous. But that doesn't mean they're OK with God. The same must apply to cows whether art or not - but perhaps I've got this wrong?

"Art," on the other hand, is often abstract or utterly unfathomable to any sane person. There is the excellent example of some freak who sold her installation piece to a museum or art gallery or whatever and they put it in pride of place ready for the grand unveiling tomorrow. Who knows how many millions they paid for it? That night the janitorial consultants arrived. "Wow," they said. "The day shift are total s they haven't touched this room and the new exhibition is due to go in; we better get busy."

Which they duly did, throwing out all this rubbish just in time for the dumpsters to be collected, which they were, and everything was incinerated. Next morning etc., etc., the point being that the pile of rubbish WAS the installation piece. The artist was immensely gratified. Her art "a pile of rubbish" was indistinguishable from an actual pile of rubbish and rubbish professionals had engaged with her work to the extent of actually incinerating it. Visitors to the space could enhance its artistic qualities even further by gazing at the empty floor. After all, the essence of piles of rubbish is that they need to be cleaned away. I could go on.

Cows. There are Holsteins, Herefords, Guernseys, those little brown Irish things, Anguses and so on but none of them are square. Not even the Belgians have produced a square cow. So is this thing, "art" or art (take your pick but I'm going with "art") - is this thing idolatrous?
