What amazes me about some so-called Christians is how far from True Christianity they have traveled. They roam into liberalism and forget the true faith.

A genuine Christian church directs all its efforts to condemning sin. It doesn't take money from the collect plate and give it to losers and lazy free loaders.

But, that is what some liberal churches on the West Coast are doing. They are spending their money building housing for poor people. What are they thinking?? That Jesus needs yet more places to watch people masturbate or have sex??

Liberal "Christians" are insane. Where in the Bible does it say you should build houses tor the poor? Nowhere! I'm sure they mean well, but they're just continuing to reinforce the dependency culture of minorities in America.

The Bible does, however, tell us to preach the Word. That's why most of our charitable efforts at the Landover Baptist Church go into distributing Chick tracts and Bibles and sending our Pastors on missionary drives to the Caribbean and various tropical islands in the Pacific (which is why their private jets are critical).

Jesus has told us that the poor will always be with us, but He didn't say anything about building houses for the lazy wretches. The Lord God did address that very subject in Proverbs several times. I am especially moved by Proverbs 13:4 where the Lord tells us: "The soul of the sluggard desireth, and (hath) nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat".

Poor people are not poor because they are diligent and have fat souls, they are poor because they are sluggards and that is why they are fat everywhere except their souls.


God will provide whatever accommodations He wants for them and it is not up to us to contradict His plans.

Somebody needs to tell that to Jimmy Carter. He has been bound and determined to provide houses for poor people for decades now. I don't know why The Lord hasn't taken him. Perhaps He is being especially gracious in letting Carter hang on this long in the hopes of believing the Real© Truth® about the Bible and finally becoming a True Christian™.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure that Carter still lives in Georgia. In parts of that state, $167 K is on the high end.


And one of the reasons that Georgia is such a bargain, cost-of-living wise, is that they make it difficult for ignorant black people to vote and they DON'T have extensive social programs.

I hope my highlighting is clear. It's not unusual for establishments to name themselves after some common theme associated with their project. Newspaper mastheads would be one example, for instance a conservative organ would hardly call itself

There are numerous Biblical themes available. What activities are associated with The Grove? How does The Bible represent them?

Jeremiah 17
1 The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, and with the point of a diamond: it is graven upon the table of their heart, and upon the horns of your altars;
2 Whilst their children remember their altars and their groves by the green trees upon the high hills.
3 O my mountain in the field, I will give thy substance and all thy treasures to the spoil, and thy high places for sin, throughout all thy borders.

God could see what was going on in the groves: they were dedicated for sin. This is the consistent Biblical theme with even the sins themselves described. Evil must always be destroyed but without God how should we know what evil was? Happily though, He has told us and in one account plenty of detail is provided which, revolting though it is, ought to be included here. Josiah had inherited the throne at an early age and acted correctly. God was not pleased with activities in the groves that had been set up earlier and the king responded in accordance with God's Just Law.

II Kings 22-23
1a Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign
2a And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD
23:1-2d And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem. And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great:
4-5 And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel. And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.
7-8b And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove. And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense
14 And he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men.
24 Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD.

Quite a lot going on: all revolting. Astrology, wizards, idols, familiar spirits, boho tapestry, sodomy, moon worship, images, sun worship, planet obsession, Baal worship, more astrology, general abomination which added to the list so far must have been pretty nauseating especially for God who is perfect. The consequences brought down are altogether catastrophic and sufficiently detailed in the text. That's what The Bible has to say about The Grove.

So why would that seem like an appropriate name for this project? Have these Californians not read The Bible? Do they care what God sees? From the sound of it the affront suggested in OP will be the least of His worries.

I admit to being an old softie. I provide my workers with housing and food. Nice big old chicken coop. Not a lot of head room (only 5') but mostly dry unless it rains.
Unfortunately, the place really is not fit for decent human habitation. The creatures living (for free mind you) in my building are disgusting. Smelly, dirty, moldy. Why give nice things to people that will not take care of them.
You just know if you gave some jigaboo a nice home it will become a cracked whore den in days with bullet hole riddled walls and little niglets running about unfettered.


If God wanted these sorts of people to live in houses and not huts, He would provide. It is not my place to interfere with Gods Perfect Plans®.

Luke 16
15cThat which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

Jesus goes on to reiterate some aspects of The Law but clearly if it was null and void from the time of John onward there would be no requirement for sacrifice, the remission of sins would no longer be through the shedding of blood and there would be no purpose in Christ's death. Quite apart from that, Heaven and earth are still here and although I have no idea what event would blast them from reality something of greater magnitude would be required to blot out The Law, which certainly has not happened.

Earlier we saw how Josiah took steps to eliminate The Grove and related abominations according to The Law which included very thorough treatment of prosperity following on. For something so enduring it's worth knowing what it contains, what it promises and the consequences for rejecting its requirements. And that is very easy to do. The standout feature is a guarantee from God, not something I've just thought up or an idea requiring way-out interpretation of an ambiguous text

Deuteronomy 28
11 The LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
12 The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them.

Very clearly this includes accommodation. It follows that deprived individuals have rejected God's requirements and although compassion is always possible from one person to another, in God's case refusing His love has very specific consequences. They are set out in Deuteronomy and are easy to read.

God is very comprehensive and although individuals may show compassion of course, how many of these characteristics are we familiar with among the least deserving members of society? If they even are members. Blasted for reasons described most thoroughly by God in both cause and effect, in every gutter you can see them. Some nations comprise little else, one or two goblins ruling the roost from gem encrusted monstrosities perhaps - but no room for God. Idols? Yes, plenty of those. Wailing at the moon? You bet! Ancestral spirits (demons) draining the life from villages? Millions of them! And exactly what God promised is exactly what happens next. Perhaps there are other explanations but for any of them to work, first thing out the window is God. Everything He describes must be rejected to even need an explanation at all.
