Default Day 192. Proverbs 22-24 - 09-21-2009, 04:28 PM

Proverbs 22-24

Proverbs 22

1 A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

Aanisah, Apple, Astrella Celeste, Atherton Grace, Audio Science, Aurelius Cy, Blue angel, Bluebell Madonna, Brooklyn, Calico, Camera, Destry, Deizel Ky, Fifi Trixibell, Fuschsia, Gaia, Gulliver, Heaven, Hopper, Ireland, Jaz, Jermajesty, Kyd, Lark Song, Moon Unit, Pilot Inspektor, Rocket, Rufus Tiger, Sosie, Suri, Zola Izy.

A bad name will get you beat up and teased for the rest of your life.

6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

A well taught child, will be a well taught adult.

7 The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

Don't be poor, or a borrower.

10 Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.

If you rid yourself of the worst person in the group, the next person becomes the worst person in the group. You appreciated that guy before, when he was comparatively better than the first guy. Eventually, when you kick out the worst person in the group, you will be alone.

14 The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.

Hummers for all who are abhorred of the LORD.

16 He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.

You can take from the poor, just don't oppress them. If you GIVE to the rich, you will be poor. Best case scenario is to have the rich and the poor give (willingly) to you.

22 Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:

See, you should be Robin Hood.

24 Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.

Angry people don't make good friends anyway. Although, if you are looking for someone to kick out of your group, he should be the first.

28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

Respect your neighbours property.

Proverbs 23

1 When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee:

When you go to a business dinner, you should never eat more than your host. Don't look like a pig in front of the boss.

9 Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.

Have you ever noticed how liberals hate to watch Fox News? They can't turn away, but they just get angrier and angrier.

10 Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless:

Again, don't trespass.

13 Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.

14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

Don't just beat your kids for beating them, beat them so they learn. A "time out" will not keep a kid from doing wrong again. Reasoning with a child is like... reasoning with a child. Beating with a rod will get the message across.

20 Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh:

Don't hang out with drunks or fatties.

27 For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit.

A whore has a deep ditch; a strange woman has a pit.

29 Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?

30 They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.

Who hath headaches? Who waketh up with strange women? Who canteth remembereth whereth they parketh their car?

Proverbs 24

1 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.

Arr, it's a pirate's life for me... is a bad thing!

6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.

10 If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

Insurance Policies are for times when there's trouble. If they don't pay for the damages, they really suck.

13 My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:

14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

Wisdom is like honey, it's the byproduct of bees pooping. It also doesn't decompose.

17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:

18 Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.

Don't take too much pleasure in the failure of others, you never know if God will think that you are celebrating too much and leave you in a quagmire.

24 He that saith unto the wicked, Thou are righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:

I'm not sure if the wicked person has to know if they are doing wicked things, or if they believe they are doing the right thing.

26 Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.

Proverbs 24:6 jeopardy doesn't pay as well as the regular jeopardy, but you get kissed a lot.

30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;

31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

32 Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.

It's good to learn from your own mistakes. If you can learn from OTHER'S MISTAKES, you are that much ahead of the game.

So what have we learned today?

1. Solomon again talks of strange women.

2. Don't eat like a pig in front of your boss.

3. Learn from others mistakes, so you don't make them yourself.

V

Judges 9:21 And Jotham ran away, and fled, and went to Beer, and dwelt there, for fear of Abimelech his brother.
