Let's face it, he's not. No matter what you want to believe in, the fact is the chances of some guy creating what we call life and everything in its existence is very very low.
Religion is just an easy way to tell yourself why you are here and to reassure yourself if you do what god wants you'll have a wonderful afterlife. All religion does is cause arguments, war, and death. Sure, it can make people happy and push them through difficult times, but all that is doing is making yourself very close-minded and blinding yourself from the fact that we will NEVER know why we are here.
I was raised in a non-religious family, so obviously it was easy for me not to believe in god. And I know it may be hard for the ones who were born in a religious family to stop believing in him, but just think about the concept of it: Stories put together in one book called the bible from thousands of years ago can run your whole life? These stories for all we know could have been told by people with mental disabilities and have never actually spoken to what you believe as god. Those people that wrote the book and gathered the story knew nothing compared to what we now know about our world and the universe.
For the past years I have been extremely lost in why I am here, what's my purpose, what is this thing we call life. I basically see no purpose in life anymore because I think, what's the point? (and I have no thoughts of suicide by the way). I know the common thing to do for someone like me is to find god and find who I am in life, but honestly, in my opinion, religion is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard of.
I know I can't bash too much on religion because truthfully I don't know a whole lot about it. But I do know this, if god were real, and all of the things people say about him are true, then I, an unbeliever, would go straight to hell. This is what really confuses me because I'd like to think of myself as a nice and caring person yet I'm still going to hell, whereas someone who is a horribly mean and hateful person who worships god has a golden ticket to heaven....????
I think after writing this I am just realizing what I, or we, need to do. I think instead of worrying about the afterlife and criticizing people who don't believe what you believe in, we need to live life as much as we can while we have it instead of worrying if you are going to hell or not when you die. Be as kind as you possibly can to others and help others in need. I didn't need god in my life to let me know what's wrong from right, the human brain knows when things are bad and when things are good. If everyone in the world would just quit thinking about religion and focus their minds on what we know as right the world would be a better place.
I know this thread will most likely be locked (even though I followed the rules), but I don't care. I didn't come here to change what you believe in, I came here to let my thoughts out and maybe discuss our beliefs. I mean no harm whatsoever.

God gave us freewill so that we could choose His Plan for our Salvation® over satan. He did not create us as mindless robots (but He could have).

If you reject Christ's love, then you are choosing satan. That means you are sending yourself to eternal damnation. Don't blame God for it. You're the one being hateful. You are here to spit in Christ's loving face without having bothered to read His Holy Word!

Jesus suffered and died (temporarily) on the cross for my sins. How can you be so hateful as to reject that amazing gift?

How does the human brain know what is good and what is bad? There are people in this world who have done things I am sure you would judge as bad while they believe what they did was good. Who is right? Stalin felt he was justified in what he did.

Can you give me an example of one thing that has always been accepted as "good" or "bad" throughout history and throughout every culture, without referencing religious laws?

Morality can not be pure without higher purpose. Look at it this way, stealing is wrong. I think we can agree on this. Lets use this scenario for discussion.
A child grows up in a jungle. He stumbles in to society and cannot fend for himself in any civilized way. He steals food, clothes, etc. He's stealing, albeit for understandable reasons. Now the authorities get a hold of him and teach him the proper way to live. He may not ever be truly civilized, but he is now confined to the rules of society.

I've seen a lot of quotes saying I know nothing of what I'm talking about and that I'm now apparently worshiping satan. No, I am not worshiping satan for the fact I do not believe in him. Also, I am not saying that science is right. Science is as real to me as religion, so don't go and say that I am wrong because none of you can prove you are right either. When you ask what controls my life? and as the nurse said you have to have a higher power, I agree with this, but I do have a higher power, it's called my parents. My parents did raise me as a nice person (as some disagree with that), so that has been my higher power.
As for the story with the boy growing up in a jungle, you're right, technically he would not know right from wrong until he had the "tribe" teach him right ways. I was wrong by saying the human brain automatically knows right from wrong. But, when someone says, "give one example of religion doing something bad" (I think that's what it said) I can easily say 9/11. They believed blowing the twin towers up was what their God wanted. So here's my question: why are they wrong and you are right? What makes your God more right than theirs?
As for Spaceship Jesus, I have never in my life heard of this religion, but I'm willing to listen to your beliefs because your religion sounds no crazier than anyone else's.

A few more questions: If God apparently knows what is going to happen, and he can't do anything about it because he gave us freewill, then why do people pray for things to happen? Also, if a boy did grow up in a jungle and was never told about God (so obviously he can't believe in him) is he going straight to hell?
