Alien Jesus?

It seems that the cathylicks are at it again, first with their magic wafers and now it's ok to believe in aliens. I suppose that all those aliens on other planets also were visited by Jesus to be saved and held their own crucifixions. Or maybe Eve didn't eat the forbidden fruit on some of those other planets and they are still living in their own Garden of Eden. We here at Landover have continuously rebuked the blasphemy coming out of the Vatican, but now they want to become science fiction writers to fill the coffers of the papacy.

From an article in the Vatican newspaper comes a statement from the Reverend Jose Gabriel Funes. This statement gives full approval for a Catholic to believe in aliens. Funes is the top astronomer at the Vatican, and he says that the great vastness of the universe certainly makes it possible that beings other than man may exist. This comes as no surprise, really, as other spokesmen for the Church have made similar statements before.

The main gist of the statement is that this "belief" does not constitute a contradiction with one's faith in God, or the Catholic Church doctrine. We can certainly take this a step further with no problem, and say that anyone who believes in God, can also possess this belief, and not be hypocritical. This has been a point of contention for many years among some Christians, who assert that since the Bible only mentions mankind as existing on planet Earth, it precludes the existence of life elsewhere.

Personally, I have not felt that contradiction, but it has often been discussed among Ufologists, UFO students, and skeptics. What do you think? Does a faith in God, and the Bible make it impossible for you to also believe in alien life? Is it a contradiction of your religious belief?

Life on other planets? That's ridiculous! Without the Kings James Bible in GOD'S OWN ENGLISH, how could they be saved?

Why couldn't there be life on other planets. Does the Bible say that there isn't? "I have other sheep that are not apart of this flock".

I can only assume that you are trying to quote John 10:16:

"And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd."

If you had taken the time to read the whole chapter, you would have noticed that Jesus clarified this only two verses earlier:

"I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. "

Jesus clearly says that his sheep (humans) know him already. Since Jesus is on earth then all of his sheep are on earth. how could a martian know of Jesus? That would be crazy.

Jesus say's nothing about humans or earth. I have taken the time to read it. I'm not saying there is or isn't life on other planets, but who are we to say we know God's great plan? How could a Martian know of Jesus? That would be crazy. Is anything impossible with God? God has always existed, so anything is possible.

So now you are saying that there are Jesus-fearing Martian Sheep on Mars?

You can't have gotten far into your Bible.

In the very first chapter God spends a day making a firmament around Earth, another day separating Earth's land and waters, one day creating Earth's birds and sea creatures, and the sixth day creating Earth's land animals and man.

The stars were just added as an afterthought:

Genesis 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

Evidently creating Earth and man was a much greater task than creating the stars.

True, I'm just trying to understand, I know there are many wise folks on here that I can learn from. Please forgive my ignorance.
