One cannot conclude from a poll claiming the majority of Americans want to bomb Iran that doing such a thing would be a good idea. The majority of Americans are not well versed in International Politics, nor do they have the time or means to truly observe the situation. The population does not even have access to all the pertinent information needed to make such a monumental decision; one that many lives hinge on. Indeed, Americans supported the idea to invade Iraq enormously. Of course, not one of them realized that the very act was illegal by the U.S. Constitution, and we have come to find that the war in Iraq was a bad idea. A very bad idea. The American people did not understand the situation fully, and apparently, neither did our government. The American way is not to destroy and bomb Iran, as it is illegal by our Constitution. The ignorance on this forum feels much like a giant black hole.

Maybe, maybe not. But since the folks who make the decisions about bombing Iran are elected by a majority of Americans, one can can conclude from such a poll whether it is likely to happen.

I see three reasons.

The first is that we are Europeans, so there tend to be a lot of homers here. I'm sure I don't need to remind you of that.

The second is that we have been conquered even more times. Romans, Goths (the real ones I mean, not the Robert Smith lookalikes), Vikings, Austrians, Spanish, Dutch, French, Germans... they all had a go at us. So it's rather obvious that JESUS doesn't love us and we're not really good at fighting back.

The situation is very complicated. There are about 55 million Muslims in France now, and about 4 million French left. Muslims think that "Renault" and "Peugeot" are French words for pig, so they burn them. That's what you see on CNN. It's all rather confusing.
