But wait, there's good news!
While watching Fox News, I saw an ad from API, the American Petroleum Institute (
www.api.org), promoting their exciting new website,
www.energytomorrow.org.
This website declares that there are 112 billion barrels of "technically recoverable oil" within the United States! That's enough to power 60 million cars for 60 years!
So, you see, we're not likely to run out of oil any time soon. We just need to retire three out of every four cars in the United States right now (there are over 240 million cars on the road at present), and we'll be good for gasoline until 2068!
Of course, that will be reduced a little bit, as it doesn't include diesel for trucks, asphalt (roads, roofing), heating oil, jet fuel, plastics production, fertilizer production, etc. As the table
here shows, only about 40% of petroleum use in the US is for powering automobiles. So, that means 40% of 60 years = 24 years. 2032.
That's a looooooooong ways away, well after the Rapture!
Here's where API says the US oil is! And the stuff hasn't even been discovered yet!
