The Testimonium Flavianum and how the Pope spat on Jesus -
09-12-2007, 06:07 PM
Friends,
You are perhaps familiar with the Testimonium Flavius from Joesphus’ Jewish Antiquities;
Quote:
At this time there appeared Jesus, a wise man, if indeed one should call him a man. For he was a doer of startling deeds, a teacher of the people who receive the truth with pleasure. And he gained a following both among many Jews and among many of Greek origin. He was the Messiah. And when Pilate, because of an accusation made by the leading men among us, condemned him to the cross, those who had loved him previously did not cease to do so. For he appeared to them on the third day, living again, just as the divine prophets had spoken of these and countless other wondrous things about him. And up until this very day the tribe of Christians, named after him, has not died out.
-Flavius Josephus
[Jewish Antiquities, 18.63-64]
|
You have perhaps rejoiced thinking you have proof positive of the life of our Lord. Proof from a non-Christian source; a money grubbing yid who sold out to the Romans when the going got rough. A man whose family immigrated to Gaul and whose descendents became the master surrender monkeys of the modern world, the French.
This is something you can wave in the face of that atheist down the street and wipe the smirk off his face. You dream of wrapping the Testimonium Flavius around a baseball and putting it upside that Atheist’s greasy head, sending him off to hell. You then plan to douse the atheist’s corpse with gasoline, light it on fire using Testimonium Flavius and then tell the police the atheist died when his lawn mower exploded.
Sadly this is not so.
The scholarly evidence that this is a fourth century forgery is numerous. While Jewish Antiquities is quoted numerous times by Church Fathers none mention this paragraph, Josephus as a hooked nosed tool of Satan would have never spoke so glowingly of our Savior, the writing style is not his and so forth. You can read about these arguments in more detail here.

However this missing the real point to the TRUE Christian™. Let us look at the passage as Christians; Jesus is described as “a man”. While His wisdom and miracles are mentioned Jesus’ divinity is causally dismissed. Jesus is made to sound like a mere mortal man. A special man yes, but hardly God in the flesh on Earth.
Who would forge a reference to Jesus that downplayed Jesus divinity? Who has an agenda that would want to exalt Jesus at the same time carefully limit Him? The Catholic Church, that is who. They need Jesus to prove the specialness of Mary, but they don’t want Jesus so powerful that He overshadows the pagan goddess they turned Mary into.
Friends, The Testimonium Flavius is nothing more than a Trojan horse built in Rome to insert Mary worship and Papism into Christian homes. Believe in the Testimonium Flavius and you believe that a mere woman is more important than our Loving Savior. Any so called Christian who believes the Testimonium Flavius is authentic should put on a dress and join the other pagans sacrificing small children to giant stone vaginas. Believers in the Testimonium Flavius should be granted their wish, and be publicly stripped and led around on leashes by Femnazis like the sub-human animals they are. Then these false believers can be publically whipped and then sodomized with rubber tallywackers by their femnazi "goddess" while the rest of us laugh at them. This disgusting passage is band, by law from any copy of any book in Freehold county and the Testimonium Flavius should be band from your home too.
In closing friends I pray Jesus will guide you to do the right thing; burn the Testimonium Flavius

Of course, it's a fake - perpetrated by the antichrists in Rome. Let us not forget what Jesus himself said:
John 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
Brethren & Sistren, let's never forget that we are justified by faith alone(Romans 4,1-7). The less we know and the more we believe - the more blessed are we. In short: we must believe the Gospel blindly in order to be saved. Let me quote our Lord Jesus once more:
Mark 10:15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
If Jesus had allowed a genuine "testimony" to survive in the works of Roman, Pagan or Jewish historians, then we wouldn't have faith but knowledge. The Testimonium Flavianum is nothing but a Popish plot designed to rob us of our childlike faith - thus leading us through the wide gate and down along the broad way to Hell.
Think about it for a while: If Jesus wanted us to have knowledge - instead of faith - why didn't He write the gospels with His own fingers.
1st Corinthians 15:16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:
1st Corinthians 15:17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
1st Corinthians 15:18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.

Godly point Brother Prune; any proof of the existence of God is clearly false because God wants us to believe in Him. How can there be belief with proof? I dare any atheist to explain this!

Indeed. God loves blind faith and hates proof so much that He sometimes even fudges the evidence to test people's faith:
Deut. 13:1-3: If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Praise! This glorious conversation has inspired me to repost an old sermon of mine on the dangers of following false teachers, even if they claim to serve the same Lord that you do, and you have absolutely no way of knowing that they're wrong! Pay particular attention to 1 Kings 13:18-24.
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.
God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

Fake as the Testimonium Flavianum may be, there exists an overwhelming mother lode of evidence that Jesus existed and was resurrected--yet sickular historians continue to treat the Bible as allegory while claiming they can determine the exact circumference of Alexander the Great's scrotum hairs by digging up a few chips of rock. Double standard, anyone?
It just astounds me that anyone can take these buffoons seriously.

A Godly good point, both of you Godly brothers. Do True Christians need historical proofs? Certainly not true Bible believers who walk the walk with the living Jesus.
Proofs make a true thing false, since there is no longer any need for faith. Because once something is "proven" it no longer belongs to GOD but to ordinary men, and has been diminished.
1st Timothy 2: 9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
1st Timothy 2: 10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works ...
1 Timothy 5: 16 If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed ...
Proverbs 31: 26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness ...
Proverbs 31: 27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness ...

The thing about all these "proof" whores that really makes me laugh is how they keep changing their "factual" story. They get all obsessive about "concrete evidence", but then later they say all that OLD "concrete evidence" was wrong. Now they have NEW "concrete evidence" to "prove" their newest "facts"!
100 years ago it was a "fact" that Mankind couldn't fly. Now we fly every day to spread God's Word all over the earth.
And all the while, these "proof whores" point at True Christians™ and accuse US of being inconsistent. As I have said repeatedly from the pulpit: So-called "facts" change constantly. God NEVER changes. GLORY!!
