Re: my aboustle favorite quotes
Dear Mr 123
I have read the verses you suggested, and am glad you like Leviticus. It really is amazing how long our scientific tradition has been established!
Periodically, of course, great civilisations collapse. Gibbon's “Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire” has become quite the cliché for decadence and ruin (at least for us - but all civilisations show the same cycle).
The post mentioned one or two interesting points, and I think that I may reflect on how your words have jogged my memory.
Your comments regarding the description of a dinosaur were particularly pertinent. I gather your position is that dinosaur bones have not just been buried to provide some sort of retroactive support for recent proposals concerning their history? and will have been available periodically for examination by - well, anyone who found them, I suppose, whether that was yesterday, in 1842 or several thousand years ago! Part of the destruction of any civilisation, of course, is the loss of much - or all - of its learning, unless great pains are taken to preserve it.
DINOSAURS
A lot of our knowledge about the relationship between bones and soft tissue (muscles, tendons etc.) & nerves comes from sports medicine. I don’t need to tell you how critical this branch of science is on the football field or whatever, because you already know. Presumably the Romans had some similar knowledge gleaned over several hundred years of athletic competition - some of it may have trickled down to us, but any athletic culture will have such knowledge and - in the absence of actual dinosaurs - could apply that knowledge to any skeletons they found, just as we have done. (Actual dinosaurs would be better, though.) In the case of large dinosaurs - a stegosaurus, say - the brain cavity inside the skull is small. Quite complete skeletons exist and how the bones were linked together by muscles is fairly well understood thanks to the contribution of vets and chiropractors, whose expertise is quite relevant. They can distinguish from the shape of the bones where muscles were attached, where nerves ran etc., and can verify earlier knowledge that has been preserved, such as it is, to be correct.
Deuteronomy 34:7 And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.
Our “natural force” as the Deuteronomist terms it, is associated with the head - we observe the world through our eyes, ears, etc., and associate language thought and consciousness primarily with the brain. The strength which enables us to rule over all the animals - whether you think we should do so or not - is our intelligence. Even the strongest human is weak compared to an elephant. That is why we are hunters, rather than hunted. Our natural force, and our strength lies in our head.
Stegosaurus has a very small head, and a tiny brain. Its strength lay in MUSCLE, and all those muscles control bones hinged from the spine and the hips - massive hind legs, huge thick spiked tail, front legs less powerful. The focus of the animal was its middle. The tiny brain only had to see food (grass, leaves) and eat it. The rest of the animal was controlled from a ganglion of nerves near the base of the tail. This was significantly larger than its brain, because it was controlling most of the muscles. The muscles controlled the bones (legs, swishing tail etc.) of these animals, and the large ganglion of nerves, protected underneath the hard backbone, controlled the muscles. For a stegosaurus then, its strength and its natural force are centrally located.
Job 40:15b, 16 he eateth grass as an ox. Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.
I am not saying that Behemoth = Stegosaurus; there were numerous animals in this category, all very much as described.
Mr. Cyber has a link elsewhere in this thread to his most erudite lecture series. We are taught this as children. Are you saying, Mr 123, that you were not?
Mr. Jedediah is a highly regarded creation scientist. Naturally his research is peer reviewed, and his teaching is consistent with geological evidence the scientific method. Not all branches of academia can substantiate such a claim. I am able to receive authoritative instruction at home and have no wish to engage in disrespectful verbal jousting. 1 Timothy 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
..did you ever go to school or anything? Small wonder then, the home-education revolution!
I don’t mind answering your questions, I suppose; yes, the universe is made of matter. Cambridge dictionary: Matter = physical substance in the universe
It is not my place to provide proof: that has already been provided by somebody else, with evidence so I am not usurping anyone’s authority. What did you think it was made out of, goobies?
PROOF - the universe is made out of matter and some of the matter is water
Genesis 1:7 And God made the firmament and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
Genesis 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. -- see NOTE below EVIDENCE
Genesis 2:6 But there went up a mist from the earth
Cambridge dictionary: mist = a water vapour suspended in the air
EVIDENCE
Job 9:30, 31 If I wash myself with snow water (snow is crystalline water, “water” of course is liquid water) and make my hands never so clean; Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch
(this is also an example of God’s Perfect Love) PRAISE HIM!
..so we have all 3 states of water you were looking for PLUS a phase transition from solid (snow) to liquid (water)
EVIDENCE Note re. 7th day: this refers to another point you raised that it is advisable to have the weekends off. Sweatshops are notoriously unproductive as a brief comparison of the economies of atheist North Korea and Christian revivalist South Korea demonstrates.
I’m not sure what “piffle” is but you mentioned a smiley of middle eastern people - I’m glad you can recognise them as Middle Eastern from their behaviour. I know that Landover Baptist does not endorse any form of race or gender stereotypification.
However if you look closely, you will notice that they are blowing themselves up.
Just as some people have preserved knowledge through the ages - so others have degenerated. From the pinnacle of creation, man’s folly has brought so many low, via barbarism, savagery, heathen pomp and depravity. The final debauch is atheism. Casting aside peer reviewed medical science accumulated over millennia, (ref: your numerous posted references) the secular scientist brings his flock to the very nadir of ignorance -- A.I.D.S. DELIVERED BY SCIENCE. NOT CURED BY SCIENCE.
Congratulations. Jesus will be supervising your torture. With hot things. Forever.
PROOF
You will be.. REVELATION 14:13b shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
EVIDENCE
REVELATION 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night
Perhaps Mr. Jedediah can advise you whether science subjects are available in the remedial education curriculum? They may interest you.
(Thanks to the Creation Science team for the original ideas which Mr. 123’s comments revitalised in my thoughts.)
