The whole gamerfun thing is actually a name I go by on the Internet. Like many other bronies, we have this thing called a oc or original character, a character that is unique and original. To ensure your trust, my real name is Donovan Moore, this way you can put more focus on other things then my name. I'm 18, and I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or LDS for short. You may know them as Mormons. Now I have nothing against other faiths, in fact I love to read about them and learn about them because I'm a huge sponge for information. I'm actually about to leave on a 2 year mission for my church. I am now eagerly waiting for the call to come in the mail. I'm also a huge gamer including playing the "oh so sinful game overwatch" and yes I've read the post overwatch is overdue for a ban. And there are so many things in there that are incorrect, and most of his "facts and arguments" come from the back story of the game, which isn't even a focus point. But I really don't want to get into it. I am a huge history and mythology nerd, enjoying classic stories like the odyssey/Iliad, Oedipus, Frankenstein and so on. Other then that there isn't anything that special about me.

I can't comprehend how anyone could be a Mormon. You do know the Book of Mormon is fraud, right? I mean, anyone could write a book and claim it was a message from God. But the whole story of how Joseph Smith found the golden tablets, which he would never allow anyone else to see, and translated them with the help of seeing stones, after which the angel Moroni conveniently took them away, is too much for me to swallow.

Let's start with our scriptures, you do know we also read the King James Version of the bible. And the reason why the angel Moroni took away the golden plates and the seeing stones was because a lot of wicked people wanted to use these sacred items for personal wealth. But let's just say that Joseph smith did indeed wrote the Book of Mormon without divine intervention. Remember that Joseph smith was a poor farmer boy with very little education, and they didn't write the way the Book of Mormon is written in, so he had to have some kind of artifact or records in order to speak that way. He also prophesied that tobacco and alcohol is bad for the human body. Back then tobacco was something not only used for casual use, but for medical use. In fact chapels were filled with the horrific smell of tobacco smoke back then. No one believed him, but wouldn't you look at that, over 100 years later, it was proven that tobacco was bad for the human body. Oh and then there is this tiny little verse that means a lot. 1. Nephi 3:10 And it came to pass that when we had gone up to the land of Jerusalem, I and my brethren did consult one another. Do you see why that is a major point? No? Ok well let me point it out "gone up to the land of Jerusalem" it's only Jerusalem that they say it like that. The reason why that's a big deal, is that they are literally going up to Jerusalem, as in the city is on a hill, and a steep one at that. Joseph smith wouldn't known about that unless he was extremely educated and had access to ancient artifacts or had divine help. If he was extremely educated, that means he wasn't a poor farmer boy, and if he had access to ancient records, he still needed a translator, something that didn't exist for ancient languages at that time.

Or... maybe they were simply imagination. After all, Joseph Smith was convicted of being a disorderly person and impostor in March, 1926. He admitted at trial in Bainbridge, NY to be defrauding people by claiming to be a "glass looker," using magic stones to find hidden treasure or lost property. About eighteen months later, he founded a new religion by convincing a different group of people that he found magical gold tablets that could only be read with magical stones. But the real magic kind this time.

But he was using black magic to look for loot in Indian mounds. Isn't that where he got the idea to make up the Mormon religion? There are people who practice magic in my home country which is Jamaica. We usually set them on fire.

Bibles had maps in them in the 19th century.

Your idea about tobacco being bad for the human body is offset by the idea that hot liquids is bad for the body. The fact is, Smith made things up and was charismatic enough to convince a number of people that he alone had some magical conduit to the truth.

Magic is what he was referring to, even if he didn't use the word. Replace "spiritual" with "magic" in any Mormon theological argument and you'll see it's functionally identical.

Leaving aside the obvious, why do you think anyone creates a faith and convinces people to join it? Why did L. Ron Hubbard? Why did Mohammed? Smith said lots of things, it's only the ones that were right or inspirational that are remembered.

Charismatic people say all kinds of things and convince people of all kinds of things. Ever wondered why someone like Hitler could have been so beloved by his people? Or Mussolini? Or Stalin? Or how the Catholic popes could work people up into such a frenzy that burning women at the stake was not only acceptable, but considered righteous?

Magic is magic. The Bible makes no distinction between Black and White Magic. That's Harry Potter you're thinking. You forget the part where you add such a bizarre epilogue to the Holy Bible that you functionally change the interpretive meaning of the Scriptures. You must, otherwise Mormons couldn't convince their children that they're really Christians (which was the only safe route in Smith's day, and has continued ever since).

And the difference between Joseph smith and leaders like hitler , Mussolini, and Stalin is that Joseph smith didn't take advantage of the countries desperation. I'm just gonna refer to hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin as the three leaders. The three leaders came to power during their country's darkest time. Germany, Russia, and Italy were all losing power. They were failing economically, socially, and their national security and military force was completely unorganized. When the three leaders came to power, they promised to make their country great again. Unlike Donald trump though, the three leaders only became leaders for personal selfish desire, or to get rid of a certain group of people in their country.

Then you don't believe those undergarments have protective powers any more? Inasmuch as you do not defile it, but are true and faithful to your covenants, you no longer believe "it will be a shield and a protection to you against the power of the destroyer until you have finished your work here on earth?"

There are lots of differences. You asked why someone would create something by saying things that would make people hate them. My point is charismatic people convince people to follow them despite doing hateful things.


You might consider learning about your church's history and theology before you go off and try to convince others to join it.

No we are not adding to the word of God. Since the records that became the Book of Mormon was created before the writings of the New Testament. And the whole thing about the garments I can't really explain. I only turned 18 this year and garments are something I haven't learned much about yet since it's an adult thing. But I do know that garments isn't magic, it's spiritual.

And you will see that I did not ask anyone to join once. But please don't tell me to learn more about my own religion. The things you hear about my church are probably either fake or belong to other so called "Mormon branches" like the flds. Please be careful what you read on the Internet. It might not be true.
